The "chewbacca defense" is in full swing, anyone watching Blagojevich speaking to the Ill Senate right now?

chewbacca defense

The Chewbacca Defense is a term for any legal strategy or propaganda strategy that seeks to overwhelm its audience with nonsensical arguments, as a way of confusing the audience and drowning out legitimate opposing arguments. It is thus a kind of logical fallacy: specifically, a red herring fallacy and non sequitur similar to argumentum ad nauseam.

The term originated in the animated television series South Park. In its typically hyperbolic style, the show satirized attorney Johnnie Cochran's closing argument defending O.J. Simpson in his murder trial.

The term Chewbacca Defense was first used in the South Park episode "Chef Aid", which premiered on October 7, 1998 as the fourteenth episode of the second season.

I find his statement that he could produce witnesses that would show that he's done nothing wrong particularly intriguing. I assume that these mysterious witnesses would somehow negate the 31 recorded instances of "abuse of power" that the FBI is using to help make the case:rolleyes:

Isn't there a saying that says "if you can't dazzle them with brilliance then baffle them with BS"?

And that was what he was doing. Telling all kinds of stories, "how can you impeach a man who has done so much good for the state of Illinois". I especially like how he talked about his parents living the American dream, and giving their life story. Who really cares, and what does that have to do with your situation. The man is a crook, and should be treated as one. His final argument was all BS if you ask me.

"If the glove doesn't fit, you're all full of sh*t"

Name that movie...

On the topic however, the guy's a douchebag. What was the question, again?;)

Do not take my next statement as support of the moron, because it is not. But if you have watched any of the impeachement trial, which I have done for the past 2 days, all the taped conversations they have played have completely been taken out of context. Not saying if they weren't cherrypicked and played in context the same thing wouldn't be going on.

I do have to agree with him to a point. He should be allowed to put up a valid defense, and if that means calling in some of Obama's staffers to testify under oath to what they knew and what they didn't know, even if it is embarrassing to the administration, so be it.

I think he is as dirty as the day is long, but I also believe he should be able to put forth a viable defense.

Mark my words, he will be removed from office, but he will not be not be brought to trial in a criminal prosection because that would mean in fact the same people the Senate will not allow him to call as witnesses now, will be forced to testify under supeona, and there is no way that is EVER going to happen. JMHO.

I know I know. Thanks to the City of O'fallon IL I now have a hill of snow in my front yard that I can use as a ski run. I appreciate them coming in and cleaning off the cul-de-sac, but just because I live at the top of it doesn't means all the snow should end up in my front yard, especially after I spent so much time and effort to clear my sidewalks!!!!

Somehow, "chewbacca fart" , a few down the list, just resonates in this case.:D

I wonder if he will swallow his pill like a man or start singing out the names of folks he can drag down with him for not coming to his aid.
Unless he was the only guy in the states government that had dirt on his shoes.

That actually made me laugh out loud.

Good riddance.

Blago better be careful. He may get a one-way ticket to the Mena (AR) Airport, or don't they do that anymore?
