Not that non-military folks aren't doing it, just seems odd that the frequency of these events is starting to really climb...........

Two soldiers charged in RBC robberies

A staff report

Police have charged two soldiers with robbing two Fayetteville banks since late December.

Kali Eloi Robinson, 24, and Christopher Bernard Jackson, 22, both of Briar Circle, were charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, police said.

Robinson and Jackson are accused of robbing the RBC Centura Bank on Village Drive on Tuesday.

Both men are assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, police said.

The two also are accused of robbing the RBC Centura Bank on McPherson Church Road on Dec. 22, police said.

In that robbery, Robinson was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy; Jackson was charged with aiding and abetting armed robbery and conspiracy.

The arrests come less than two months after Fayetteville police charged four Fort Bragg soldiers in an alleged plot to rob the Fort Sill National Bank on Yadkin Road.

Pvt. 1st Class Raymond Wojcik, Pfc. Preilinson Connor, Tajia Conner, Pvt. Justin Roberson and Pfc. Louis Rodriguez were charged in the conspiracy.

From WRAL:

Three Bragg soldiers, woman arrested in bank-robbery plot

A multi-agency investigation into a bank-robbery plot led to the arrest of three Fort Bragg soldiers and a Fayetteville woman Friday.

The four had planned to use weapons in the robbery of Fort Sill National Bank, 6243 Yadkin Road, Fayetteville police said. The bank is in a strip mall about two-thirds of a mile from Fort Bragg.

Pfc. Prielinso Andre Conner, 20, Tajia Renee Conner, 19, and Pvt. Justin Lee Roberson, 22, all of 1602 Rim Road, and Pfc. Louis Edward Rodriguez, 20, were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Rodriguez was released on bond Monday, but the others remained in the Cumberland County Detention Center under $10,000 bonds.

Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum said a fourth soldier also was involved in the case, but Fayetteville police said that wasn't the case.

All of the soldiers are members of the 101st Chemical Detachment at Fort Bragg, McCollum said.

The FBI wanted Prielinso Conner and Tajia Conner for another bank robbery, according to an arrest warrant.

The suspects were arrested after investigation by the FBI, Fort Bragg Criminal Investigations Division, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fayetteville Police Department.

Fort Sill National Bank has been robbed twice in recent months. In July, police said three gunmen kidnapped the bank manager from her home and drove her to the bank so they could steal money. The bank was also robbed in April.

All four defendants are scheduled for preliminary hearings on Dec. 16.

This isn't necessarily new, we had group down in my AO in SC who took over a grocery store late one evening about 3 years ago, had a spotter on bridge with a radio to let his guys know when we were almost there, all of em 82 boys IIRC. You've got to remember though the 82nd is a large org, there are bound to be some bad apples just like any other org. Just my .02

There were far more bank jobs in this town during that time period than two.

The usual place for such news is maybe a small block on page 2A but most likely pages 2 or 3 in part B.

If the perp is Military or at Goodyear (Kelly Sprinfield) it's front page news.

There's what, 60k out at Ft Bragg?

Steal it in the form of taxes and they call you president.

Take $50 billion and get to stay in your own $21 million mansion while you await trial.

But, get caught taking a few thousand and go straight to jail, no bail, 20 plus years doing hard time.

We have a wonderful system.

TS I was just watching Fox news reporting that shockingly  Madoff was at his mansion trying to hide assets and was thinking the exact same thing (well except the president part), I guess the judges there are as bad as the ones in my AO.
