Here is the email below I sent back on the 6th, it must have gotten
marked as spam or something weird.

We actually caught the rainy season right at the end luckily. It did
rain in Hue, up near the DMZ, but I think the weather is always crappy
in that area, it was cold too in the 50s and low 60s. We took the
train from Hue to da nang and once we passed the mountains the weather
cleared up and it got warmer. I wanted to take a tour of the DMZ, but
I talked to a few people and read that there wasn't much to see other
then some old bombs laying around, also it really depending on the
guide that you got. I did talk to one tourist that lucked out and got
a vietnamese guide that was really knowledgeable only because he
fought for the south and ended up spending 4 years in jail after the
war so he had a different perspective, he wasn't "advertising" his
tour for good reason, just luck of the draw to get him as a tour
guide.

I'll send some pics once I download them.

Has anyone on your PS.com been back to vietnam? It is really a cool
country to visit, the food is probably my favorite out of asia.
Especially in Hue, since they serve an "imperial" version of
vietnamese cuisine. People are relatively nice and don't have much
animosity about the war. Since they signed something with the world
trade in last year, they are really building up china beach and nha
trang into a real tourist destination. We drove along that beach in da
nang and big hotels are going up everywhere, so things will really
change in the next few years. It already has in saigon, gucci and all
the big hotel chains have hotels there now, whereas when I visited 4
years ago none of that was there yet.
