FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The Army has set a date for its first execution in nearly 50 years.
The military said Thursday that former North Carolina soldier Ronald A. Gray is to be executed Dec. 10 at the federal prison complex in Terre Haute (TEHR'-uh HOHT), Ind. He was convicted of multiple rapes and murders.
Army Secretary Pete Geren ordered that the former cook die by lethal injection. President Bush approved the execution
Gray is being held at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He was convicted in a spree of four murders and eight rapes in North Carolina in 1986 and '87 while stationed at Fort Bragg.
The last military execution was in 1961. Army Pvt. John Bennett was hanged for raping and attempting to kill an 11-year-old Austrian girl.

I hope the media does not turn this into a political event. This is about crime and punishment.

I remember that shithead. Everyone on base and off were really worried until they caught him. This should have happened a long time ago.

He mostly Raped woman in town. The Taxi Driver was not his MO but they said it was him. Don't know if they actually convicted him of the Taxi Drivers murder thou.

I was in 3/504 back in '90. This guy was still being talked about. He was a cook at the time he did the murders. As I remember, the 504 had several guys on death row back then.

Department of Justice attorneys have filed documents requesting US District Court Judge Richard Rogers to reconsider his stay in this case.

A stay for an SOB who killed four and raped eight. Great. I'm sure the victims appreciate it.
I'm all for the stay...so long as Gray gets to live unrestrained and unsupervised at the judge's house alone with the judge's daughters (if he has any) until his appeal is heard again.
What a crock of Sh*t.....
That is why we have a deficit..... We keep shit like this alive instead of killing him years ago.

You don't even want to know what it cost to keep scum like this incarcerated. (Last I heard) Death row inmates in AZ cost the tax payers just about 100k a year EACH. They also get to have a nice cozy cell to themselves, get to watch dvd's, read porn mags, and play xbox or play station.
We've got real punishment going on here I tell you.

Seems like his lawyers are trying to drag this out long enough for Obama to be sworn in and his sentence will to be commuted.
Ronald Gray: Federal judge denies appeal for former Fort Bragg soldier on military death row
http://www.fayobserver.com/news/crime_courts/ronald-gray-federal-judge-denies-appeal-for-former-fort-bragg/article_825269ec-e57b-5d0b-88fa-b1ce0ab82885.html
"The only killer on the U.S. military's death row whose execution has been approved by a president has been denied relief from a federal court.
Unless Ronald Gray files another appeal, the judgment filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas could clear the way for his execution, which was originally set for seven years ago.
Gray is a former Fort Bragg soldier who was convicted of a series of rapes and murders more than 25 years ago. The crimes were committed in 1986 and 1987 on Fort Bragg and in Fairlane Acres Mobile Home Park, which was off Santa Fe Drive in Fayetteville..."

I was at Bragg when this scumbag was raping and killing. I'm sure there's more than one of us that hoped we'd be the ones to catch him in the act......
