I think he was being serious about the "tanned" part. I said earlier that when I watched the 2nd debate, I thought he had been hitting the booth.
It's going to be a long four years.
I hope that's all it is. I begin to fear they are planning for much longer.

If four years of President Obama can lead to twelve years of Republican presidents than I might be willing to suck it up. It's not like we have a choice at this point.
We need to mobilize all republican geriatric doctors to drop everything and go live with the older Supreme Court judges to make sure they all survive the next four years (and maybe some hypnotists to convince them not to retire until after January 2013).

I like his attitude. He'd never make it with our media and there 24-7 bombardment and micro analysis, but I like his attitude.

That's just Berlusconi being Berlusconi. He always comes up with this kind of "wits" or whatever he thinks they are. He thinks he's being funny and he is genuinely surprised when the rest of the world thinks he's just being weird. Just his kind of sense of humor I guess.

Although the Italian PM may have been trying to be witty and humorous with his remarks, any QP can tell you that such humor seldom translates well inter-culturally, inter-generationally, and inter-racially...and is, therefore, used with great caution and restraint by the likes of astute politicians, GOs, etc. ;)
One of the most important jobs of a FAO is to provide such SA, face-saving, point-of-view advice to senior government and military leaders when dealing with HN personalities.
