View Full Version : The Great Schlep for BHO
Have y'all seen this one? It's a movement to get young Jews to go to Florida and convince their grandparent(s) to vote for BHO.

FWIW, this is a serious movement and young Jews are doing this. It is interesting to watch them try to argue for a candidate who is black--after all the anti-Semitic rhetoric of the likes of Jackson, Sharpton, Farrahkan, etc--and who has an Arab-sounding name. Apparently, the grandparents are having a difficult time being persuaded to vote for the likes of BHO.
As for me, this election has forced me to have to ask myself, "Is it ever OK to refuse to vote on principle?"
No – it may boil down to choosing the least-bad candidate, but that’s our democratic burden.

Yes – when neither candidate is tolerable, abstaining can be a form of civic protest.

Fortunately, I live in Texas…where BHO will not get the electoral votes and where I can abstain on principle without risk…this year anyway. This will be the first time since I was of voting age that I have chosen to do this, and it feels awkward and I hope it will be the last. But I fear the nature of politics and the system that produces a “choice” between the likes of a BHO or a JMcC--which causes more people to vote against a candidate rather than to vote for one--will continue to make national elections a painful choosing of the “lesser-bad” candidate.
My dad used to say, "Stripes, spots, no pattern...it makes no difference...a skunk is a skunk no matter what their coloration or what you call them." IMO, Washington has become a den of political polecats and stinks...and I'm in a quandry over what to do about it. Hell, maybe it's just my FOG-iness acting up...or the Foehrn...or not enough coffee yet. :p

Agreed Richard,, This is a political video not a comedy..
I did a little reading and these kids are active BHO supporter and are actively pushing this video to re-hook the older Jewish vote,, of which a bunch live in Florida..
Remember the "hanging chad"???
The Florida counties of Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach are full of older retirees and numerous persons with English as a 2nd language and dubious Green-Cards..
They all have something in common,, A Voter Registration Card...
The very same people that could not read a ballet in 2000, will probably attempt to vote again..
It's the real world,, and it just so happens to be very funny....
About Us:
Background, Goal and Structure
Everyone knows that Jews vote. By some estimates, 80% of Jews are registered to vote. Among registered voters, Jews tend to vote at twice the rate of the typical voter. In certain swing states, Jewish votes can make a significant difference between victory and defeat.
In presidential elections, when choosing between a more progressive candidate and a more conservative candidate, Jews overwhelmingly choose the more progressive candidate. Between 1924 and 2004, Jews have given their vote to the more progressive candidates at an average rate of 76 percent. In fact, none of the more conservative candidates has ever mustered more than 40 percent of the Jewish vote, while more than half received less than 20 percent.
Given this history, why is Barack Obama hovering at 60 percent of the Jewish vote, according to three separate polls? Is this all the product of a highly effective rumor campaign, spread through Jewish networks often by well-meaning individuals concerned that they information they received was true? Or is there something more?
The goal of JewsVote.org is to find out what is unsettling so many people in our community, those friends and family who have typically supported the more progressive candidate for president, and to convey to them why we are so excited about the possibility of an Obama presidency. JewsVote.org will take on the rumors using the same networks used to propagate them. To realize this ambitious goal, we created a sophisticated suite of tools. You can use any and all of them, for free.
Want to make phone calls? User-generated call lists and logic trees of talking points will help you talk to your undecided friends and relatives. Hoping to start your own email campaign? JewsVote.org will let you choose among dozens of emails and with one click send them to your networks. Hoping to reach voters you can’t email or call? You can select and then place advertisements in the newspapers of your choosing. Are you a skilled facilitator or organizer? Organize a salon with undecided voters in a swing state, or get trained by JewsVote.org as a salon facilitator.
JewsVote.org is a project of the Jewish Council for Education & Research, a federal political action committee created to develop and disseminate information to voters in the United States around issues of concern to the Jewish community. JCER is motivated by a deep love for the Jewish community and by a desire to ensure that Jews have access to all the information they need as they engage in the electoral process.
In 2008, JCER is supporting Sen. Barack Obama for president and six other Congressional candidates who share the American Jewish community’s core public values: a robust First Amendment, equal rights for all, broad-based economic and educational opportunity, cultural liberalism, vigilance in the face of oppression, respect for the natural world, a strong but not belligerent foreign policy, and support for Israel.

I know they are very serious about this, but it just to me is funny. Different cultural background, country boy that lived all over the world as a kid and adult. This is going to be a stressful last 20+ days.....

BHO has brought sex, race, religion and support of clear anti American activism. All that is left is porn.
So....when is Michelle O going topless for votes?
Seems to fit.

It is one thing to get one's grandparents to vote. It is another thing entirely to get one's parents to vote for your candidate.
This is especially true when that candidate had a spiritual teacher the likes of Reverend Wright. In the African American community, among others, accusations of a conspiracy in the American government goes hand in hand with a resuscitation of the unconscionable 'stab in the back' conspiracy theory.
To paraphrase Churchill, never have so many been duped by one as empty.

No disrespect, but middle eastern cultures hold family values closely and lean heavily on the children for support in later years, including the Israelites.
The parents and g-parents spent their saving on their most prized possessions,, THE KIDS. Consequently many are taped out in their old age..
The part where the young lady says something to the affect,,
"Tell granny to vote for BHO and you may visits this year,, if she doesn't, maybe no visit"
I have seen this is the real world, where smart a$$ kids would use exactly this type of mental anguish on parents & g-parents to get what they want..
And it works.
Sir,
Your point is well made. My own family history gets in the way of my understanding how other families behave.
(And how upset would I be if it were the Great McCain Schlep? Probably not very.)

I'd like to see my sons try that one with me. ;) In a practical sense, it would save me $$ as I wouldn't have to wine, dine, and house their sorry a**es! :D

It's not my kids either, Richard..
Unfortunately my girls had several "little princess" friends, who start in grade school using the technique, and it pissed me off royaly..
But it originates with the parents,, more often than not, with the mother..
I have seen wives of friends use the technique on hubby to get what they want,, and the lesson is quickly passed on to the kids..
They say that 90% of a humans "persona" is created by the DNA they are born with,, the other 10% is environmentally absorbed..
Sometimes that 10% seems to be more assertive than the other 90%...
Unfortunately my girls had several "little princess" friends, who start in grade school using the technique,...
That is a truism I never ran into until I moved here. I live in a rather affluent area where kids--in general--are spolied and then, as a principal, I have to deal with parents who wonder why their kids act the way they do. And it's not just the girls. I'm not going to spend many words on this, but here's one example.
One of my son's friends asked his parents get him a 'hardship' drivers license at 15 so he could drive to HS because:
he lived 2 miles from the school and didn't want to walk
he didn't want to ride the bus because it was embarrassing to him
both parents were too busy to take him to school like many parents did
it was 'cool' to be able to drive when his friends couldn't
Anyway, they got him the license.
When my son asked why I wouldn't do that for him, I told him (1) this was not my definition of 'hardship' and a blatant abuse of why that system existed, (2) he needed the exercise (it was 1 mile from our house), (3) he could ride the bus my taxes paid for anyway, (4) I didn't see any car he owned...and I sure as hell wasn't going to give him one. He worked it out and got his first car his senior year of HS. ;)

Looks like Jesse has just changed the game ---- Those with an interest in defending Israel may have second thoughts about an Obambi administration
SnT
JACKSON ON OBAMA'S AMERICA
NYPOST
He promised "fundamental changes" in US foreign policy - saying America must "heal wounds" it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the "arrogance of the Bush administration."
The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.
Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.
"Barack is determined to repair our relations with the world of Islam and Muslims," Jackson says. "Thanks to his background and ecumenical approach, he knows how Muslims feel while remaining committed to his own faith."
