Sir, Congratulations. May we know more about the selection of your granddaughter's name?
That is a good question.
My wife and I said we would not name our kids after a relative.. We had both seen the hurt feelings & in-fighting this generates. SO, we kinda started the trend 35 yrs ago with our girls.. We also look at the initials,, no acronyms.
I'm not sure, but I think both our girls are of the same thinking..
Now, about Emmerson Kathleen,, I think her parents just sat down and did some thinking.. I do know Emerson is the masculine version to Emmerson,, the Kathleen,, just sounds good.
I also tried to get our girls with a nice sounding middle name. My father, g-father, & gg-father were all called by their middle name, and I was suppose to be, but my mother had a hissy fit,, she is 86 and still dislikes it.. It didn't fly with my wife either..
How you gonna act???
Congratulations Gramps. :D
Here is a nice Irish Blessing for your newest grandchild.
To welcome a new baby
May you always walk in sunshine.
May you never want for more.
May Irish angels rest their wings
beside your nursery door.
And for the proud parents: (and Grandparents)
May God grant you
a wee bit of heaven
to cradle in your arms -
a sweet bonny baby
to hold close to your heart
A newborn babe
brings light to the house
warmth to the hearth
and joy to the soul
for wealth is family
family is wealth.

Congrats, Opa.
Good thinking on the names. My dad always said give your kids good name so they don't have to fight their way thru school!
