In November 2005, Australian LE & Intel agencies raided a bunch of homes in Melbourne & Sydney. 18 Men were arrested and charged with a range of terrorism offences that authorities had been investigating for about two years (Operation Pendennis).
The first part of the Melbourne groups trial has ended with seven men found guilty, four acquitted, and one hung jury - leading to a retrial for one of the accused.
It's a pretty interesting story of how a "homegrown" terrorist cell forms, and maybe an example of how to run a similar case.
