View Full Version : SGM (ret) Mark Fisher
I am sad to report that SGM (ret.) Mark Fisher (age 56) passed away unexpectedly yesterday at his home. Funeral arrangements are not yet complete in terms of dates/times etc. The Anderson Funeral Home in Ayer is taking care of things and he will probably be buried in the Winchendon Vet cemetery. My best guess is that we are looking at Tuesday or Wednesday.
Mark was technically the first President of Chapter 72 when it split off from
Chapter 4 when the 10th moved to Colorado.

Mark and I went through training group together and spent a lot of time together in the 10th. A great guy and great SFer. I am truely sorry for his passing.

Mark was a great friend and great soldier.
LEOMINSTER: Retired Sergeant Major Mark F. Fisher, 56, of Main Street, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 16th at his home.
Mark was born in Quincy, July 16, 1952, a son of the late Francis and Claire (Griffin) Fisher and grew up in Braintree. He was a graduate of Braintree High School.
He entered the United States Army in 1972 and was a member of the elite 10th Special Forces Group. He proudly wore the Green Beret for most of his twenty three year military career.
SGM Fisher was a graduate of the Sergeant Major Academy in El Paso,Texas, and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. For the past 15 years he was employed as the Junior ROTC Instructor at Methuen High School.
He was a member and former treasurer of the 10th Special Forces Association. SGM Fisher was an avid sports fan and never missed a Red Sox or New England Patriots Game. Sundays at the Fisher residence were known as “Patriot Pizza Days” as Mark was famous for making his homemade pizza.
In addition to sports, Mark had a variety of interests including fishing, camping and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved music and had a special appreciation for the Beatles and classic rock.
SGM Fisher is survived by his son, Brian M. Fisher of Hudson, his daughter, Andrea M. Fisher of Worcester, his former wife, Imelda (Niro) Fisher of Leominster. He also leaves his beloved cat, Toni-Girl.
A funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, August 20th at the T. J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte 2A) Ayer. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Devens Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5-8 Tuesday.

RIP SGM Mark Fisher. He was like a second father to me. I'm glad I got to pay my respects to him. I can remember countless times drinking with him and my father.

METHUEN — Methuen High School senior Keisha Velazquez yesterday became the first student to receive a scholarship in honor of Sgt. Maj. Mark Fisher, an instructor in the school's Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, who died of a heart attack last August.
