These figure's might be off a little. ;-)

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.

A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations o'seas, living large!...

But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress & yep--we got 'CHANGE' all right!.....
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS & prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~11,300--$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YEP , IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE!...AND WE SURE AS HELL GOT IT!!!....NOW the DEM'S CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT--AND THE POLLS SAY HE'S GONNA BE 'THE MAN'--CLAIMS HE'S GONNA REALLY GIVE US CHANGE!!....JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YA THINK YOU CAN STAND???.....

[OH my how the Dems must be reveling in the leadership of Ms Pelosi & Reid.]

You need to forward that roll up to McCains team so they can start a new add and make sure they show John coming out of his AC with the Flag by the Door.

Uh, O.K., I don't know about "bubbles". The Dems in Congress made it possible for people to assume a much greater debt load with a mortgage when they could barely afford the apartments they were in.

Even though less than 1% have defaulted, it depressed the U.S. dollar. Oil is paid for in "ta-da", U.S. dollars! So, we have to a spend more dollars for oil. It is a large contributing factor. No bubbles involved there.

Yes, the Dem's in Congress are to blame. Please, don't believe me. Check it out in the Congressional Record. You have to do some digging, but it's there. Major libraries have it (~ 2 weeks old) or online.

Sometimes individuals do influence the market. Are you seriously trying to tell us that Jimmy (I'm gonna whup his ass) Carter's policies and his cabinet had nothing at all to do with gas lines and outrageous interest rates in the 70's. Please....... I don't know what you were doing in the late 70's, but, as far as suffering under Carter and working for years for the Dems, I saw the nonsense first hand. In that regard only, I am a BTDT.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I don't get it- In college I'm learning that Bush is responsible for every bad thing?
I don't see eye to eye with the administration on everything, but I cant think of a more challenging time to have been President since Pearl Harbor.

As a compare and contrast: I saw Pelosi on a show, promoting her book, and after two years as speaker, all she could "list" as her congress' accomplishments was the increase in minimum wage. Minimum wage hikes may get votes but it has led to increased unemployment EVERY single time its been done.

Keep up studying but keep an open mind. The real world is a lot different that what you friends and Professors wearing the rose colored glasses say. I am not a fan of any Politician but I have been around and seen a lot around the US and World. Politicians will say anything to get Elected and Re-elected.
Also do not believe the MSM because they spin so much to get ratings that it is hard to sift through the reality.

What has the Democratic controlled Congress done since they got their directive ????? Increase of Minimum Wage. Everything else has had the bottom drop out. Yes they are not the only ones responsible but they had a hell of a lot to do with it..... Damn Politicians. Keep your eyes open and your mind open and do not sub-come to the west coast tree hugging socialistic rants.

I don't get it- In college I'm learning that Bush is responsible for every bad thing?Thanks too my previous profession in the military.:D

I'd come up with some wise-ass remarks during class, when they'd go on the "Bush" rampage...

"That's BS! You ain't never held a job outside of the academic world yet; you have the knowledge to expound on what's real out there?"

"You need to refer to me as Dr. or Professor!" "Since we want to jump on the title bandwagon...you refer to Bush as POTUS which he is and deserves; and I'll then refer to you as Dr. or Professor which you believe you deserve?!?!?"

"I paid a $100+ for this textbook and I don't see the POTUS name in it...is he going to be on the exam?"

:lifter

Stay safe.

Remember what I said above, I blame the Congress or Presidency for the economy if it turns sour and they have heavily increased regulations, taxes, etc...Jimmy Carter created multiple new government agencies, and he kept the price controls on gas, plus the economy was far more heavily regulated then, so I agree there.

What about the increase in the federal budget? I'm not sure on the numbers, but hasn't it increased in relation to our GDP in the last few years by a fair margin?

While President Bush does wield a big hammer he is only one person and he has the power of the veto.

There are many more Congressman and Senators that as a whole have more power than the President. They in fact have the power to impeach the President if he is putting the best interest of the USA in jeopardy. They make the laws we all live by

Not that President Bush hasn't made some poor decisions, he has, but there are alot more Congressman and Senators on both sides of the isle that are far more blame in the irresponsible bad things as you put it.

JMO - their teaching you crap.

Gentlemen, thanks for your thoughts on dealing with leftist professors. I intended my remarks to be "tongue in cheek": "I don't get it- In college I'm learning that Bush is responsible for every bad thing?"

I agree with the other statements following mine. In the future I will remember that posts cannot convey sarcasm.

As a 34 year old in a liberal state school, I am continually disappointed with the sheep-attitudes of the students and the active attempts to indoctrinate by the prof's. Freedom of thought is policed by low grades regardless of merit.

Thanks again for your words. I spend time on this site because it reminds me that I am not alone in most of my views.
