Latest news from Ft Benning. A South African company, La Pasta-Day-Rear-Entrance received a $15.4 million cost-plus-award-fee modification under previously awarded contract (Zboot-06-C-6311) to exercise an option to provide integration services for mission packages that will deploy from and integrate with the Ft Benning Airborne School. This modification supports the a newly designed replacement for the 34 ft jump tower. The new tower will be located in Oribi Gorge on the Mzimkulwana River, just West of Durbin.
Lt General Huffnpuff, current commander of the Army's Elite Airborne School, commented "It is thought that more realistic and challenging aspics need to be integrated into the class schedule to create a better Army Airborne candidate. This new venue will guarantee we continue to attract and maintain successful Jump School Graduates."

An RPF for work for a firm fixed contract will be released in 2009 to replace and replicate the major aspects of the Orbit complex to the current location of the 34 ft towers at Ft Benning. Although funds for this effort have not been allocated. It is expected that after the November elections, an appended resolution to current legislation(s) (S.2433 & H.R. 1302) can be used to accommodate needed contract(s).
