Just got word my great uncle Tommy Hayes passed away quietly last night.
Tommy was with the 357th Fighter Squadron in World War Two.

BG Hayes flew out of New Guinea in the Pacific in P-39s and P-40s before transitioning to P-51s en route to Europe. He was shot down once by a Zero over Java, flew 143 combat missions, and had 10.5 confirmed kills (2 Japs, 8.5 Nazis) and a probable. That makes him a double ace. He retired in 1970. Well done, Sir.
