I guess the people of the world are now beginning to see through the ultra left wing agenda of the "new york times":D

I'll bet Al Franken, air America or codepink could help out the "NY times".;)

This is how a piece of shit news paper dies.......

Profit Plunge at the New York Times
By Elizabeth MacDonald

The New York Times (NYT: 13.18, +0.32, +2.48%) fell as low as $12.38 this morning after its second quarter earnings missed estimates. Profits plunged 82% to $21 mn versus the $118 mn posted in the same period a year ago, a period that was helped along by the one-time sale of an asset.

The share plunge is the lowest since July 1995.

Print ads dollars at the Times continue to shrivel, sending operating income in a nosedive, as ad dollars continued their inexorable march toward the Internet. Hotels, automakers, airlines, all hurt by high energy prices, have pulled back sharply.

The Times is hoping against hope that its mix of assets, including The Boston Globe, the International Herald Tribune, About.com, regional newspapers and a classical music radio station in New York can pull it out of its corkscrew dive south. Stay tuned.

I think Pinch and the liberal intellgentsia there will continue to run it into the ground until they bankrupt it.

He is bulletproof due to the structure of the voting stock and the shares held by the family.

Do you suppose the Times could be a pal and take the "New Yorker" with it when it implodes???

That didn't bother me as much a them publishing stories by Seymour Hersh that contained classified information.

It is fairly obvious that the Times has been in a journalistic spiral the past several decades but refusing to publish John McCain's editorial as written has to take the cake. There is very little worth reading in that paper any longer.

Well, this should make circulation increase.

rubberneck, Hersh is an America-hating muck-raker of the highest order. All he needs is an outlet to publish his screed, and the Times provides that as well.

New York Times to raise newsstand price to $1.50

Jul 23 03:56 PM US/Eastern
By JEREMY HERRON
AP Business Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Times Co. will increase the Monday-Saturday newsstand cost of its flagship paper by 25 cents to $1.50, the publisher said Wednesday.

Times Chief Executive Janet Robinson said the price increase for The New York Times will take effect Aug. 18. The last increase came a year ago. The company recently announced a 4.5 percent increase in home delivery prices for the paper that takes effect this month, the second bump in a year. The increases helped overall circulation revenue rise 2.5 percent in the latest quarter.

The increase will not affect the Sunday edition of the Times, which sells for $4 at the newstand in the New York metropolitan area and $5 in other parts of the country.

The move comes a week after The Wall Street Journal said it would boost its newsstand price by 50 cents to $2 starting July 28 to reflect both new content and higher costs.

Newspaper publishers are battling sharp rises in newsprint costs and deep declines in advertising revenue.

Really good news. I think we can safely say, the Liberals do bite the hand that feeds them, at least, to actually having a strong desire to destroy it.

Long overdue good news.

Is this liberal backlash, or just a tiff of some sort?

No, more like We the People speaking....tired of the NYT's left leaning bent and willingness to print things that compromise both the security of our Nation and our Troops.

I'm surprised they haven't tried already.

In a more enlightened time in America it would have been financial suicide for a paper to employ a snake like Hersh. Who knows, if newspapers continue to struggle financially maybe they might become risk adverse. It might take a generation or two but in my lifetime the Times has gone from the Grey Lady to the propaganda arm of the DNC and they are finally starting to pay the price for it.

The NY Times has enjoyed a captive audience for too long, and this audience has eaten the NY times crap for so long they have learned to enjoy it. (I've written this somewhere on here before) IMO the NY times days are numbered.

It used to be (for decades) if one were to remain informed you read the newspaper, it was basically the only source of news/information, along came the TV and took a bit of thunder from the newspapers. With the advent of 24 hour news channels and then Vice President al gore’s inventing the internet I believe we can start counting the days until the NY times goes belly up.

As the internet generation grows up and the NY times indoctrinated old farts that still read the NY times die off the NY time’s sales will continue to drop until the only people purchasing the paper will be the ultra left wing NY times staff and members of al qaeda looking for classified information leaked to the paper by some pillow biting white knuckle sissy that works for some alcoholic, murdering, bottom feeding Massachusetts Senator.

The younger internet generation realizes they don’t have to read the crap their daddy reads and many younger folks (like me) get about 90% of all my news from the internet. (10 % from TV) (Hence the reason Google and Yahoo are worth billions………..)

The only downside I see in all this is that the morons that currently write for the NY times will be spread about the internet instead of all writing in one place (one newspaper) that I can easily ignore, the NY times.

Great news to me. The consumer is speaking on the performance of the NYT and their audience continues to dwindle. Team Sergeant, like you, I am very glad that Al Gore invented the internet!:D
