Looks like a shark pick to me.

Why do you want one?

Oh no, I didn't want one. I'm perfectly happy with my trusty Leatherman. I was just curious if the community thought it was a gimmick or actually useful.

Ain't that cute! I'll bet Jim's Pawn can sell them by the hundreds. (I'm not a big fan of shark darts either.)

I read an article related this knife on a British news site. It essentially states the extreme danger of such a knife, and it seems their attitude towards it will probably lead to it being outlawed in Britain.

Not much. A one shot deal just like a B/C, but a B/C will save your life.

Knife fight with a bad guy? The average person would be hard pressed to fire it at the right time.

Slip up behind a bad guy? Better things to use than that and if you did use it the cops would know real quick what did it.

On a toothy fish? I'd want something with a longer reach.

What will they dream up next?

Just my opinion of course.

Having been in the water with several sharks and fully agree with something longer to deal with them, I would prefer to stay away from the business end of a shark to begin with. :D

So. Now we have edged weapons that can make a temporary wound channel also. That was once a privelage owned only by impacting projectiles...

Seriously, I can't seem to think of any practical uses for it. Bang sticks don't need to be thrust into the body of a shark before firing. It appears painfully slow to initiate once blade is inside the target before charge is released. But I'm sure it will make plenty of money. And that was the real objective wasn't it?

sounds like cold steel!
another interesting article featured in blade magazine was the new 18 xray knife by meyerco. out of the two I think I would be more likely to go with the meyerco than the wasp(dont have to PMCS it).

Caleb,
This is all your fault and you owe me both pushups and large amounts of beer.

Yesterday I saddled up the horses and went to town to catch up on my current publications. At the not quite local "Barnes and Noble" I picked up the Jan. 2009 issue of Tactical Knives who's editor and a former QP Senior writer are good friends of mine that I have a lot of respect for.
The knife in question, which I'd managed to forget about, was included in this magazine and it was not written by anyone I've met if memory serves.

I read the article. This stuff isn't for here.

That's probably best imaginable comment about this "knife"

Thank you and with that the thread is closed unless a QP has reason to reopen it.
