I am actually asking this for the son who is in Afghanistan currently and looking at re-enlistment or not soon. Internet is sparse and doesn't work frequently for them so I told him I would help seek some info.

He is a 11B
SSG/E-6
Airborne School
Air Assault School
Sniper School
PLDC
ACLS School
Been in for 5
On his second tour in the Mid. East

What would some of you suggest as far the next career move besides BNCOC?

Firearmz,

It would help to know his educational background.

What are his interests?

Has anyone asked what he wants to do?

This is really a broad question with no direction, IMHO.

Best of luck without further info.

He graduated High School and went right into the Army. He loves the outdoors, hunting, shooting, and his job.

He is undecided as to what he really wants to do. He has served as rifleman, DM, Sniper, Team Leader, Squad Leader, and now is the Sniper Section NCOIC. Always been Light Infantry in the 4th Bde. 101st. What he really would like to do, I believe from his conversations is stay in the Army, (Infantry), but cut down on the long deployments. Maybe more but shorter deployments. Right now he has done one about every 12 months since permanent duty , just do not know if thats possible.

His other option that has been given to him is the Georgia State Patrol has put him on some what of a hot list and asked for a updated resume about 3 months out from ETS.

Perhaps a bit more formal education may help him define/identify a goal as he matures. Beyond that I defer to others on this site.

You might suggest he join this site for himself, and follow directions. There is a ton of information and insight that is unique and hard to find elsewhere!

Again, best of luck!

+1 on the formal education. He should start classes even if he doesn't know where he wants to go.

That depends on a few things like does he desire to stay in the military and make it his profession?
