View Full Version : HBO Recount
The Republicans were portrayed as old Men spawned from evil, Mafia type mentality and tactics.
The Democrats were portrayed as fighters for truth justice and the American way. Usually HBO Movies are pretty good. This one had a definite political agenda.
The MSM is in the can for D's this year. It's an all out push to get a D in the White House.
Mac is going to get rolled like a drunk private on a hot Saturday night by the MSM and wake up Wednesday, the 5th of November, and wonder "What Happened?"
Back some years ago, when Bob Dole was running against Clinton, the outcome was as obvious as it is now. The propaganda is thick enough to require a steak knife.
McCain doesn't have a chance, and neither does Hillary.
I suspect the next four years will be interesting. Not pleasant; just interesting.
It is just Politics........

I guess we won't have to see any more dreck like this from Sydney Pollard. When HBO announced this project they tried to say with a straight face that it was going to be an impartial look at the 2000 election. Considering that every single major player (executive producer, producer and director) in the film has been a life long Democrat and major party donor it is obvious what the outcome was going to be even before the script was written. I guess if Recount is the cross we must bare in order to get mini-series like Band of Brothers and John Adams than so be it. I just wish they had the honesty and integrity to call it what it is.

....and also, missing a Kidney.
I did not watch this movie yet, but probably will sometime this week when they show it again. At the movies this weekend with the wife a preview came on called "Swing Vote" starring Kevin Costner. The whole point of the movie is that the Presidential election is dependant upon this one persons vote. I guess people dont understand the point of the Electoral College.

Should you decide to watch this “show” (certainly not a documentary) as I did, I believe it is healthy to keep the following in mind:
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/florida.ballots/stories/main.html
Throughout Recount, it is portrayed as being sort of assumed fact that had the actual recount been completed, Al Gore would have won Florida. Yet, in a study commissioned by CNN, the AP, the NYT and others, the findings show that Bush would have won regardless.
Even usually liberal outlets feel the need to concede to the truths of history occasionally. And, yet, somehow HBO created a “show” patently false that some may mistake for a historical document.

Yes, Sir, very true.
You might find an alternative predictive system of interest - the University of Iowa runs a futures market that seeks to predict the election outcome. Actual trades, involving real money, take place.
I've attached charts of the price action; these are the basis for my statement.

It is for the same reason every State has two Senators. It is to ensure that even the smallest of states have some say in what goes on in this country. If we didn't have the electoral college it is possible for a candidate to win the Presidency by only carrying three or four of the most populated states in a landslide and being competitive in the rest.

In most of the media "recounts", President Bush actually gained votes. But, I guess to admit that would be an inconvenient truth.
