Are our elected officials so out of touch with what those who put them into office want, or are they so effing egotistical that they just don't give a damn..
I am so sick of "politics as usual".. why don't we just open our borders to anyone who wants to live here - give them anytjhing and everything they want.. because eventually we're going to run out of hard-working Americans who're willing (or able) to pay the bills....
We are rapidly becoming the most powerful 3rd world nation on the face of the planet.

I know it is Politics but what part of Illegal do they not understand. No matter if it is Illegal Alien or the Political Correct Illegal Immigrant. They are not Immigrating they are invading... Sorry for the rant....

Due to Federal law, when you get a license, you are automatically registered to vote. IIRC, it is illegal for them to ask if you are here legally.
At the same time, you can register to vote and you are not required to show ID when you go to the polls (except an a few states).
The system is currently designed for fraud. Unless you were registered in multiple places as a Republican, no one is going to ask why there are 14 Jose Garcia's registered to vote in 9 different precincts, but no SSNs or tax records, and there is no requirement for them to show ID, prove they are US citizens, or for the authorities to check to see if you are.
If anyone asks, the ACLU will fight the case till you are a little old illegal.
If you want to get a good look at the ludicrousness of our policies, see what Mexico allows LEGAL aliens to do (or not do), and how they treat illegals coming into their country.:rolleyes:

Thanks, being Legal all my life I have never thought about it. My state requires a Picture ID (State License/Military ID\Passport)
I know about Mexico and I think there should be a Documentary on CNN 24/7 showing the Restrictions on Legal Resident Aliens and all the Penalties on Illegals in Mexico. Not a pretty picture.....
Now if you could tie the good Governors position and Obama’s recent win…and project what the Nation future might look like under a Obama administration, maybe the next POTUS will not be a democrat.
My little long haired Spanish dictionary has family still on the other side of the fence. Her father was deported after being caught for the 3rd or fourth time driving drunk, and passed away last year in Mexico.
We go round and round quite often about this very subject-- illegals and the rights they are trying to get us --those born here, to just give up to them.
She's understanding to some degree, but then with the ties and my strong stance against illegal aliens/immigrants/temporary workers, we've had more than our share of heated discussions.
Yes, this is the great melting pot. America is a free country, but it must be EARNED, not just handed over to any old Joe or Mary who puts out his/her hand and cries foul when it isn't filled immediately.
These politicians who pander to this croud only do so in order to receive the votes of these illegals and then we, the tax payers wind up with the burden of their desires to receive a free education and medical coverage, not to mention the possibility of social security benefits.
The ACLU can kiss my @55 and you can quote me on that. There's just way too much of this politically correct B.S. floating around like the muck on the surface of a cess pool.

Our Republican administration hasn't been any tougher on illegal immigration. This is an issue that both parties have failed miserably to address. The Democrats don't want to lose a voter base, and the Republicans don't want to offend their business base that profits from a cheap, renewable, work force.
I don't see how one party can be blamed for this.

I don't see how one party can be blamed for this.
So far, it seems the Feds have relegated the problems associated with their lack of border security - immigration policy to the states to deal with. As far as I know - so far - only Arizona has done anything serious to attempt to solve the problem. Probably 33% plus of the students in my classes are illegal, or were "anchor babies". Many are now leaving with their parents - in reaction to Arizona's "employer sanctions" law - though most are NOT returning to Mexico, but going to a more "friendly" state, such as North Carolina.

That would be my lovely wife, who is of Mexican heritage when it comes to the family tree, but who was born right here in the good old US of A just like you and me. :) She's only 2nd generation so she has some close ties with the issues covered in this forum.

Here in Arizona a few years back there was a task force set up to bust Arizona DMV's.
Seems a few dozen DMV's were selling Arizona Drivers licenses for between $50-500 dollars a pop. That's all you need to get a passport, bank credit, a house, etc etc etc I've little doubt it still goes on today.
Thank you dim Governor Janet Napolitano for allowing millions of illegals to murder, rape and steal from the United States of America.

CBNNews.com – MEXICO CITY, Mexico - For the past month, America's attention has been focused on the Middle East war. During that time, another 300,000 illegal aliens have crossed America's border with Mexico. But you won't believe how Mexico treats its illegal aliens.
Illegal aliens from Mexico were allowed to march through America's cities, demanding citizenship – some even waved the Mexican flag. But illegal aliens inside Mexico, mostly from Guatemala and Honduras, are literally on the run.
Some travel by train and some hide, trying to stay one step ahead of the Mexican Federal Police.
The Mexican government was outraged by the movement to build a new wall on America's southern border. Mexico's Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez went before the cameras to protest.
Derbez said, "Mexican immigrants are not felons or terrorists. They are human beings who deserve respect and the opportunity to live with dignity."
But in Mexico, when it comes to the treatment of its illegal aliens it's, ‘Do as I say, not as I do.’
Mexico has called U.S. immigration policy "harsh," and has called the proposed wall on the U.S. Mexico border "shameful." But some have called the Mexican immigration policy "hypocritical."
Enter Mexico illegally and you're treated as a felon. If you're caught by the Federal Police, you'll be fortunate if you're only deported immediately. The unfortunate are robbed, abused, raped, or even murdered by corrupt police officers.
Fernando Aguilar Neri coordinates Red Cross efforts to help illegal aliens in Mexico.
“When people approach us, they are usually fearful that we work with the government and are afraid of being reported,” said Neri. “…One of the seven principles of the Red Cross is complete neutrality and independence, so we can't cooperate with the Mexican government on the illegal alien issue.”
Neri says that most illegals moving through Mexico try to avoid the cities.
The Catholic Church also shields illegal aliens from the Mexican government. CBN found two shelters for illegals in Mexico City, but weren't allowed inside.
Most of the Central Americans inside are on their way to the United States. They'll be fortunate if they arrive unharmed.
One immigrant from El Salvador said, "If you are carrying any money, the police take the money and then say, get out of here."
"We still have 20 days of travel (to reach the United States)," another one said.
But if you're a Mexican wanting to enter the U.S. illegally, then you can count on the Mexican government's help and support. It even has a special department called Grupos Beta that helps Mexicans cross the U.S. border illegally.
But in an interview with CBN News, the head of Mexico's Immigration Service, Hipolito Treviño, denied it.
“Grupos Beta is the Mexican government initiative which does not help people cross the border, but they do assist them when they have problems in the border area,” Trevino said.
But Grupos Beta gives them a booklet, which includes tips on how to safely cross the U.S border. Trevino denied the allegation that immigrants are also given maps by the government.
“No maps,” he said. “We give them recommendations about the dangerous animals they'll encounter, how much water they need every day, what to do in case they get lost, what to do in case they get detained by the border patrol, which paths are dangerous because of crime.”The reason for the government's help? The cash sent home by Mexicans in the U.S. constitutes the second biggest source of foreign currency in Mexico after the oil industry. Last year that was $20 billion, or 2 percent of Mexico's GDP.
About 10 percent of Mexico's population is now living in the United States, that’s over 10 million people. And how many illegal aliens in its own country has Mexico legalized in the past five years? Just 15,000.
The Mexican government may think a new wall on the U.S. border is offensive, but critics are saying far worse things about Mexico's immigration policy.
