I am sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I am having trouble finding SWCS finance. From what I understand it is a different location than the one that everyone else on bragg uses. Anyone know where i need to go?

Have you given thought to asking one of your TAC's at Stu Co?

It is on the first floor of the Soldiers Support Center (old Womack).

A word of advice. Ensure that you keep copies of all pay inquiries etc that you might process through there. I just received a Soldier who has been getting all of his deployment pay the entire time while assigned to SWCS even though he made made no less then four attempts to fix the problem. He was smart and kept his paper work so we will most likely be able to get him relieved of his debt.

The IG can help with that, if need be, and you are correct, evidence of attempts to resolve the problem are a big help.

I had something similar happen when I returned from an OCONUS tour. I kept getting paid COLA even though I made three trips to the finance office to stand in front of them with my LES ,ID card and orders bringing me back to CONUS to prove I was no longer OCONUS. Kept up for 4 months. I stuck the extra cash into a money market account I had and made a little interest on their mistake before they wised up and I got a $200 LES. I think the national average on 6-month CDs is running just under 3% right now. ;)

Not SWCS finance, but my Bn CSM had to stand on the counter at finance along with my company SGM to get me BAH from May of 2006. I finally got that payment in August of 07.

A good "WTF are you people doing to my Soldiers!?!", and that was all she wrote.

CSM T.H. was the $**t.......and still is!! :D

As with the previous statements, keep at least a copy of every piece of paper with your name on it while in the Army.

My brother attended OCS at Fort Benning in 1969 and after graduating, he went through Jump School, Ranger School and Pathfinder School. He then attended fixed wing flight school at Fort Stewart.

While in flight school he received a check from the finance center at Fort Benning for back pay and allowances. The check was supposed to be for just over $1,200 but instead it was for over $12,000. (a lot of money in 1969-1970).

My brother sent the check back to the finance center at Fort Benning three times while he was at Fort Stewart only to have it returned with nasty memos included each time.

When he arrived at Phuc Vinh, he again received the over sized check in the mail. Bob (my brother) asked his Company Commander what to do and his C.O. advised him to deposit it into the 10% savings program that the Army offered for troops serving in a combat zone.

It wasn't until my brother was leaving active duty that the Army caught up with the missing $11,000+ that they had over-paid him.

My brther was glad to return the balance that he owed the Army but he kept the interest that this money had earned over the 18 months that he served in RVN. Some things don't change!
