I attended the Basic Airborne Course at Dong Ba Thin, Republic of Vietnam in 1968, while assigned to the Third Mobile Strike Force (B-36), 5th SFGA..
Who else has been awarded his U.S. jump wings from a course not at Fort Benning?

I graduated the 1979 Basic Airborne Course conducted by the 36th Airborne Brigade, Texas Army National Guard at Camp Mabry, Texas.
Ground and tower instruction were given over two MUTA-5 drills (Friday - Sunday) at Camp Mabry. Troops were marshaled from Bergstrom Air Base in Austin, and all jumps were conducted at Camp Swift on the third MUTA-5.
I know there were lots of old school SF guys who took training in Okinawa, Campbell, Panama, and other places. 5th Group used to run two iterations of the Basic Airborne Course during the summer for ROTC Cadets finishing their summer camp when it was run at Bragg.

BAC at Ft.Bragg in April,1955...However I would have liked to have gone through the "Towers" training...
A Company of 2nd Bn. 12th SFG(A) conducted a basic airborne school at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin in the summer of 1988(?). We also did a jumpmaster school as well.

I did Missoula, MT, at the USFS Smoke Jumpers School, in 1980. Had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fury of Mount St. Helens and a great MTT from 7th Grp.

A Company of 2nd Bn. 12th SFG(A) conducted a basic airborne school at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin in the summer of 1988(?). We also did a jumpmaster school as well.
Thats kinda funny, its now Ft.McCoy, I work there as an Urban Operations instructor. There is no more Airborne school though, just legs, guard and reserve MOB troops.

I got to participate in one of the ROTC Jump Schools at Bragg. Got my first Army "A - cheeeeese - ment" ribbon as an impact award, instructing ROTC Jump School summer of '81(?). As I recall the award had just been authorized and some GO was walking around with a pocket full of them looking for a formation to descend on. We had just pinned wings on the cadets and he took advantage of the situation. Have to admit, teaching the cadets was fun. College kids can hold their own when it comes to partying. :D

Several members of the unit I was in at the time - 297 MID (SAF) - attended that same jump school - including a good friend, CWO Jim O., who sent me a packet of Mount St. Helen's ash. The jump school was a very good idea for Reservists!

I went to BAC run by the 1st SFGA At Sukiran, Okinawa, March-April 1964, went to JM course at the same area in 1970.
