Oddsmakers like Red Wings to win Stanley Cup
It has been a decade since the NHL had a team repeat as Stanley Cup champion and most Las Vegas oddsmakers give the Ducks a good chance of ending that drought this season.
The Detroit Red Wings, who had the league's best record during the regular season, are the consensus favorites at 3-1, followed by the San Jose Sharks, who are listed at 9-2, according to Bodoglife.com.
Then comes the Ducks, who are grouped with the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins on most sportsbooks with odds ranging from 6-1 to 10-1. Although the Ducks are not the overall favorite, they have a decent chance of matching Detroit's back-to-back championship teams of 1997 and 1998. At VegasInsider.com, they are listed at 6-1 to repeat.

Me too! And the Avalanche started off with a win; 3-2 over Minnesota. Don't forget, they moved up in the playoff seedings after Peter Forsberg came back. They're lookin' good so far! :lifter
Caps/Flyers game last night was very intense. Both teams were very physical on the boards and there was some rapid scoring. Any word on the flyers player who took the Green slap shot to the groin?

Last I heard Holmgren stated he was to undergo surgery for removal of one. Good luck to the lad as he is a good young player. I think the Flyers/Caps and Avs/Wild series appear to be the most entertaining. :lifter
GO AVS!!!!
Friday Night Sucked - OT was way to short!!

Unless I missed something last night, it was Thoreson who took that unfortunate shot during game one or two. He missed a game and then has returned for the past couple.
I wish I WOULD have missed that first period yesterday afternoon; IMO the worst period of the Flyers in the entire series (including Period 3, Game 1). We should have been down 3 going into the intermission. Hopefully, we end it in Philly.
Flyer fans: who are you pulling for in the matchup of potential second round opponents: Montreal or a suddenly hot Bruins team?
Thanks.

Oops, you're right: that was probably a mistake. To be honest, as long as the physical and fast-paced play continues, I would love to just keep watching the Philly / D.C. series. It's been a good one.
Hoping for a Sharks win to put the Wings and Avs together for a renewed rivalry. It feels like 2001 all over again!

Jose Theodore was amazing in the net! I hope that he can do the same against the redwings.

The Avalanche and the Red Wings have been fighting for a long time. If Jose Theodore continues his Patrick Roy like performance, than the 'lanche might just win Lord Stanley's Cup again. Do it, Avalanche!
Of course, if Jose plays like he played the first 21:13 he played tonight, it's going to be a quick series.
Avs battled back, but not well enough.
SDiver, why the hell aren't they hitting the Dead Things banged up lines?

I know. :(
Hopefully that "Crud" that he had last night will be gone tomorrow afternoon.

YES THEY DID !!!! :lifter
But all I can really say is, that's why they play 7 games.

Don't know. Maybe next game, they'll be hittin a few. I think the "Sheriff" might be hittin the ice here soon.
either that or.....
You didn't go touching the cup again this year, did you Sir ???!!!!???

Who else is playing????????????????????
Danny Briere scored his eighth goal of the playoffs with 3:38 left in regulation to break a 2-2 tie and lead the Flyers to a 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Philadelphia now leads the Eastern Conference Semifinals, three games to one

Go Flyers! If they win the Montreal series, I plan to catch one of the games the following week in Philly . . .
I am surprised the Rangers are getting killed so badly.

CRAP.
Sorry S but that is exactly what your team looked like last night. Flyers need to close out tomorrow-can't give "Canada's team" a chance to breathe.
Watch for numerous flagrant mystery calls on the orange and black.

The Flyers totally suck. Did not show up tonight at all.
Pens-Red Wings should be a great final.

I think they are just out of gas. Short your best two defenseman and facing a team that is rolling (with two ancient pylons and four newbies for a defensive corps) leads to zero time in the offensive zone. Heart got them here however they still need more pieces. After last year's debacle I am not unhappy-disappointed, but not unhappy.

As a fellow Flyers fan, it just hurts so much worse because our collapse is coming while competing against an easy-to-hate Penguins team.
That being said, with a strong young nucleus, the Flyers should be competitive for many years to come. Unfortunately, there seems to be a handful of Eastern Conference teams with similar positive prospects for the future.
Still hangin' around...
GO STARS!!!!
Can't be stopped !!!!!! To young, to fast, to good....:lifter:

I hope so. They need to come out and take it to the wings these last two games. What a great finish in triple overtime though.
Well I'm a huge fan but I may be eating my words, They looked terrible, and the Wings look like the younger, faster, harder hitting team but I haven't given up on them.... LET'S GO PENS
