I had a hard time believing my eyes and ears this morning. CNN had Martin Luther King III on talking about the need for a new Cabinet level post, and he used the term Poverty Czar, AND called for, not a minimum wage, but a minimum income. He then reverted to the old Third Way, Liberal/Progressive Fascist term, “A Living Wage”.
What he is suggesting is that everyone, regardless of whether they finish the free (read that Tax-Payer funded) education that has been provided to them, or attempts to find and hold a job should be given $XXXX.00 (the Living Wage, determined by the Secretary of Po’ Folks) so they would not be living in poverty.
One of the first questions that should pop into a sane and rational person’s mind is why anybody would be motivated to then try to make money on their own, thus giving up the FREE government money. Obviously the Poverty Czar would Means-Test an individual to determine if someone exceeds the threshold for eligibility, and the more money an individual makes on his own, the less he receives from the Nanny State. One only has to look at the currently crafted Economic Stimulus Plan to see how this would work. Martin Luther King III wants the government to instantly create an entire class of people, the Living Wage Class. Don’t need no education, don’t need no job, sure don’t need to pay no taxes (that’s for Rich people); don’t need to do shit except recharge that government debit card. For those of you that haven’t heard, that’s the same kind of card you use for food stamps.
Now we know why people would buy into this system, but why would the government want to take on this gigantic task? Simple, CONTROL! Certain elements of the government want to control every aspect of your life. The politic of meaning, It Takes a Village, we’re from the government, we’re here to help, no child left behind. These are all grand sounding concepts, but it’s all about government control of YOUR life. Why, our experts can raise your children, tell you what to eat, protect your well being, AND provide you with a Living Wage. There are literally hundreds of thousands of politicians, government bureaucrats, and academics planning your life, right now, as I write this. Martin Luther King III wants the government to control the destiny of millions of Americans. I think that would be a real bad idea for everyone.
