DoD Identifies Navy Casualty


The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Petty Officer 1st class Luis A. Souffront, 25,of Miami, Fla., died Feb. 7, from wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device while serving in combat operations in Iraq.

He was assigned to an East Coast based SEAL team.

For those of you that didn't know him, Luis was one of us. As a very young Naval EOD Tech he was attached to 1st SFG(A). He was an outstanding performer, and a great friend, he will be missed.

RIP PO1 Souffront, the men of C-1-1 and EODMU5 will never forget you, you will always be one of our brothers.
