I was looking at my DD214 and in box 15 where your decorations and awards are I have one listed with the letters "ALB". All of the other abbreviations I was able to figure out but this one just slips my mind, old age is creeping up on me. Can somebody help me out on it. Thanks:confused:

Found one reference (without definition of the acronym) that placed the ALB between the NDSM and NCOPDR....so it seems to fall in the range of campaign medals.....

If it said ALD I would vote for Assault Landing Device which is the little arrowhead on some campaign medals. However, since you were in the 1-20th from Alabama (ALB) it most likely is a state NG award. Check here:

Hope this helps. BN

ARMY Lapel Button

The Army lapel button is presented to soldiers when they transition out of the Army. There is a minimum requirement of nine months of continuous service without a break of 24 hours or more. Orders will not be published for the lapel button, but the device should be presented to the soldier at a troop formation by the unit commander. All soldiers who transition out of the service should be recognized, and the soldier may only be awarded one lapel button. Do not present the device to soldiers with unsatisfactory and substandard performance records.

Thanks for the replies. Army Lapel Button sounds right. It came in this order: ASR / AAM-3 / ALB / NDSM... I found this refering to the ALB:

I was never awarded/given one. I did get a triangle shaped pin that had Desert Storm 91 on it. That is the only pin that I recieved.
