I wonder if this story will have the same legs as the POW story
My guess, sadly no

This is why we DON’T humiliate / abuse prisoners, but I seriously doubt this is why those pieces of trash butchered Mr. Berg.
As upsetting as those photos (our stupid photos of the Americans screwing with the Iraqis), I do believe that they should have been published. They would have inevitably leaked and that is what a free society does. I would add Mr. Bergs death (and subsequent / inevitable deaths) to those soldiers crimes that are being prosecuted now. As far as the a$$holes that just killed Mr. Berg, there should be no mercy.
Lastly, I wonder if we will see the video of the decapitation on American television as often as we have seen the stupid fraternity party pictures that the American soldiers took. Seriously, it makes the whole leash picture kinda tame in comparision.

GreenSalsa, I would like to respectfully add that it's one thing to show the pictures of alleged abuse of Iraqi prisoners under United States control and it's fully another for the network news to give us wall to wall saturation by broadcasting the prison images morning noon and night, day after day. These images are shown multiple times during each airing. This is done for maximum impact. This is way beyond news story coverage. Does anyone think the media could share a little blame here?

Sir I have to respectfully disagree with this Sir. We dont do it for the same reason we are seeking justice for the mistreatment; its wrong.
I do agree that the abuse just gave them a name by which to call their behavior and not a true reasoning for it. No Iraqi prisoners had been abused when Daniel Pearl was murdered or when the PMC's were killed, mutilated, and dragged thru the streets.
My .02, the mistreatment of the Iraqi prisoners is just an excuse.
Time to really let loose the Dogs of War until, and only until, the back of the insurgency is broken and all enemy combatants are either killed or captured. I am tired of seeing us dick around with this.

I saw the unedited version of the execution and it is really disturbing. The whole time the animals are doing it they're yelling "God is great" (in arabic of course)......the gloves need to come off.

I'm curious, is this the top story on your local paper(s) or is it sharing space with the POW story ?
Here in Boston it's the entire cover of one paper and sharing the top half of the other with about 3 other stories

My thoughts have been that the scum that did this in the name of the prison "abuse" are fueling the s***storm here. I mean really, here's an example, old ted kennedy talking about seeing saddam's prisons operating again under US management. WTF? I'm sorry I find nothing "patriotic" in his comments at all. I mention that since many on the left are so fond of stating a differing of opinion is patriotic duty. Sure, having debate is great but that is over the top to put it mildly. There are so many others wringing their damn hands over how we are "abusing" known terrorists, murderers etc it is sickening. Where is the outrage over this? Or the Contractors murdered and hung from the bridge? Or our Men and Women under constant attack? All these politicians are doing is continuing to endanger our Troops, our Country and our security with their b.s. personal greedy agenda.
I think this video should be shown on every newscast as often as they show the prison pictures. Perhaps then Americans and the rest of the world will see what abuse really is. But...oh geeezzzzz the media outlets won't show it because it is so very graphic and disturbing. Yes it is, and I am sickened by what I saw and what I heard (one of the radio stations just this morning broadcast the audio, you can clearly hear his screams and chanting of the scum as Mr. Berg was being murdered) I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with emotions from extreme anger and hate for those bas*****, and from pure sympathy for the family of that young man.
Wake up America. Please.
