My current medical certs (if you can even call them that) Basic First Aid by American Red Cross, and CPR by American Red Cross. First Aid I believe is good for 3 years, CPR one year, I believe. (Unless I'm mistaken, for some stupid reason my cards don't have EXP Dates....)

And I've taken Intro To Medical at my high school, so we've covered skin diseases, STDs, blood born pathogens, small amounts of anatomy, and intros on how to do things such as massage therapy, physical therapy, small brief on dental exam, etc. Just basic intro stuff to different medical occupations (we couldn't do gynecology though :( even when both of my friends were willing to let me give 'em an exam :( ) But anyways.... Medical is something that's interested me a lot.

And I've been doing as much research as I can into 68Whiskey, which is Healthcare Specialist (aka Combat Medic if in a line unit) and you can get Option 40 with it, so you can become a Ranger Medic. And to my knowledge, Ranger Medics go to a Special Operations Medical Course (is this true?)

And I've also looked heavily into 18D, especially with the information I'm very greatful to gain access to from this site. But I was wondering how a Ranger Medic compares when stacked up to an SF Medic, and what kind of Advanced Medical courses either of 'em can go into.

I know once I"m enlisted, I'll have to get CLS, (do 68W's or 18D's even have to do CLS since they are already expert medics and higher certs?) etc.

but what other kind of training could I expect. I understand that 18D's cross train with all the other CMF 18's, but how far does that cross training extend?

Anything that's not violation of OPSEC would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to know everything physically possible for me to learn about 18D's, and all of the other CMF 18 MOSs. What who's job is, quals each can recieve, etc. etc. and compare it as much as possible to Option 40 types... (68W, 11X, 21B, or a 25series MOS).

I just want to know as much as my brain can physically handle. I want to learn everything I can.

Medics have interested me greatly. I know the basic duties etc. of a 68W in a Leg unit... But no where else... 18D is something I'd like to learn about, and 68W's who're in Ranger Bns.

as much info I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you :)

My own ignorance has gotten the better of me, I didn't realize I just posted this in general Medical, I intended this to be in 18D thread...

Screw me dead :(

Stud:

Stop posting, stop talking, and just read for a while.

I could tell your age without even having to look it up. You will not be eligible for 18X for years, even if you lose the weight to make it.

Take a break, and use the Search button for a while.

You're doing such a great job yourself, I'd hate to interrupt.
