Gents, any of you out there have an interest in purchasing an AR-15 lower with the SF crest engraved on the right side to build into a rifle?
It would not be cheap, the lowers are billet 7075, with a lot of neat features like ambi bolt release. The price would be whatever the price of the lower, plus the engraving at cost. I don't know the price of the lowers, they are not on the market yet. I think it will be around 300, but I'm not sure.
This would be for 18 series only, and I would prefer to work out some sort of verification process.
Also, I would try to work out the serial # to be "SF- (your group number)- (your team number)", if possible.
Well let me know, via pm om or on this thread. Thanks,
Justin

If you can pull this off in the $300 range, I would be very, very interested. I have all the SFverification you could ever want.

DO:
You might want to review your registration message, introduce yourself as it requested, and then get someone who is a vetted QP on the board here who knows you to verify your creds before cutting any deals.

FWIW - The last (stripped) lowers I purchased were $106.00 each. Unless you're offering a complete receiver, $300.00(+) seems a little steep. Engraving doesn't cost $190.00. Why billet? Even with CNC capability, billet machining doesn't make economic sense unless you're offering something "really" special. BTW - there are a limited number of manufacturers (forged receivers) and everybody I know of uses 7075. It's not something extraordinary. Peregrino

Look, the receivers are coming, there is no point talking about the economic sense of it. I am only trying to get the crest put on a few of them. It would be milled in, not engraved. I too have purchased a 100 dollar receiver, this is different. If everyone uses 7075, great, I didn't know that. I was trying to convey that these are top of the line stuff. I am only guessing on the price. There's still a ways to go. But I'm trying to gauge interest in the milled crest.
This would not be an item for someone trying to pinch pennies to feed 6 kids. This would be for a guy with some disposable income who could pay a few hundred bucks for a piece that has some significance, and no one else has or is likely to have in the future.
Are you the guy with LW?

OK!!!
Having a more than average understanding and knowledge of various "Machining Processes", please attempt to explain the difference between "Milling" and "Engraving" other than that one being CNC and the other possibly "Free-Hand"!!! They both have the same end result!!
Also, you have not offered up any Creds and really should not be "Dragging The Sack" in here attempting to sell anything!!
If you are a QP, please contact myself or any of the other Admins with your Bona-Fides and we will take care of you.
This Thread WILL SUNSET tomorrow!!
Have a Very SF DAY!!!

No - I'm simply a well informed consumer. I asked because I'm genuinely curious. What is so special about these receivers as to warrant the asking price? I've already got 26 years of SF mementos. Before I commit to spending an exorbitant amount of money on a component that I will still have to build up into a rifle that meets my standards, I want to know what I'm getting for the money. No, I'm not putting six kids through college; yes, I can afford/demand quality toys; and yes, I pay attention to value. Don't get thin skinned. Peregrino

I have sent my creds to Team Sergeant. Also, they are in my profile.
Have you seen the Sig 220 pistols with the crest laser engraved on the slide (5th has these and I think 3rd or 7th too), that is what I was considering engraving. This would actually be into the material, I suppose that is engraving also.
I am not trying to sell anything. These lowers are coming to the market to be sold. I want one that has a crest engraved on it, I figured others would too. I will not be making any money. The company I work for will only be making money off the base lower, with anyone wanting the crest paying cost for it. I couldn't care less if the company made money by selling 20 or so extra receivers. Hell, I'll ask if they will sell them to us at cost (the production cost of the receiver plus the cost of the crest). I am sure as hell not a sales guy, more like the guy in the S3 shop who put together the Sig220 deal. Only I don't work in S3, I work in the gun company, doing design and testing.
I understand (Peregrino) wanting to get your value, again, the price was a guess. These will have a couple neat little features, like screw in pin for the bolt release, the ambi bolt release, and a couple other things I can't remember right now. If these don't measure up, it's no skin off my back, maybe they aren't worth it. Honestly, I personally wouldn't want to pay 300 bucks for an AR lower, I don't like AR's that much and I already have one. But some people would, and I get them free as part of my salary.
I'm not thin skinned, I'm a team guy still, just being direct.
Justin

Justinmd - Thank you for the additional information. I wish you luck in your endeavour. Explaining it in terms of the Sig deal (I have one of the 226s from the first buy) puts it in a better context and gives most of us a familiar reference.
FYI - I am one of the Admins here. My screen name is Peregrino - Pelegrino is a real person (not me). We (the admins) pay very close attention to marketing issues in here; especially when SF memorabilia are involved. I'm sure you can understand our interest/concern when a (relative) unknown offers a product as distinctive (and regulated) as a firearm. Peregrino

Sorry about the name screw-up. I can uderstand the concern. It would be a shame to see this site turn out like many of the other forums, between the posing and the hawking of stuff "used by Special Forces". Probably not many, if any, on here know me. But I am one of you guys, but not near as much time in. I'll send you the info I sent to Ambush Master, also. I didn't know you were an admin also.
If this thing never takes off, that's ok too. Even after the lower, you still have to buy an upper/barrel/stock, etc, as you said. And then all you have is a plinker/varminter. I would prefer to have a long range rig, but so far the company isn't into that yet.

OK Guys - Justinmd has exchanged bona fides. We (admins) will be following up for QP status, etc. He is a new employee with a reputable company that's looking at expanding into a new product line. I'm sure the receivers will be of sufficient quality (everything else they do is GTG and market niche innovative). He's trying to "hook his buddies up"; it looks like the genuine "team room good deal". All business should now be between individuals using PMs. If you're interested and meet the intent of the deal, send him a PM and have at it. This thread is now closed. Peregrino
