Why would he do something like this??? Who would vote for a man who is unpatriotic? I believe in sticking to your beliefs, what ever they are, but I don't get offended in court when they ask me to put my hand on the Bible and swear my statements, even if there is a New Testament in there (I don't believe in the New Testament, sorry). So why would a man running for President of the U.S. not believe in the National Anthem??

Maybe he does have his hand over where his heart is.

Why do any of the democrats do what they do ?
Obama is losing ground quickly to Hillary, so I believe it's a non issue. Unless, your thinking of voting for him. :munchin
Was that Maya Rudolf re-enacting an SNL singing skit in the ABC video clip on Snopes?
...why is anyone surprised ?
Our elected leaders have all become self righteous over the last few years...
Our country is in dangerous times, and it has nothing to do with whether or not a man puts his hand over his heart during the national anthem. The real danger is that the country has reached a point where we are collectively willing to deconstruct and analyze the reason WHY the man didn't put his hand over his heart or WHY he decided to stop wearing a lapel pin. Why cant we just take the man at face value? He doesn't want to show respect because he doesn't agree with the current policy. I never really considered keeping my hat on at the dinner table because I didn't agree with moms "Liver and onions for dinner" policy. My dad would have knocked me backwards out of my chair.
Who cares...
When I was a kid, you said yes sir, no sir, you took your hat off when you went into the house, you said please and thank you etc etc etc and you stood and put your hand over your heart during the pledge of Allegiance and The national Anthem. We just called guys like him rude or disrespectful and moved on. The fact is, he's just another turd with no class exercising his god given right to show his true colors. If the American people at large decide that he is what we need as our countries leader, then the old axiom is true, a country gets the leaders they deserve. Its just a shame for those of us who feel differently in our hearts, but thats why we serve; so disrespectful shitbags like Obama can make his statement safely and without threat of violence.
I am sure there is probably some socially responsible reason why I should pay more attention to people like him, but frankly I cant think of one.
Anyway, just my thoughts and mindless ramblings. I could be wrong.

This morning on msn.com I read: Senator Barak Obama said he would " engage in agressive personal diplomacy" with Iran if eleceted president. Which when I first heard he would travel to Iran and N.Korea in his first year in office a few months back I was thinking about possibly voting for him. I thought someone willing to directly engage with these regimes may actualy do great things. After I saw him on TV a couple times I changed my mind. He later went on to say in his speach in Chicago that he would withdraw cobat troops but leave a residual force. He also talked about the role of the force, such as training Iraqi security forces only if the Iraqi army and police were not being employed for sectarian purposes. American forces would not be attached to Iraqi forces going in harms way. "The trainers are going to have to be provided with missions that don't put them in vulnerable situations,". He emphasized that the resifual force would not have the mission of deterring Iranian involvement in Iraq, and possibly be based outside Iraq.
Not tryin to deter Iranian invlolvment, being based outside Iraq, great plan.

What I take from that is that the Anthem doesn't mean anything to him.
I don't mean in a conscious, did-it-on-purpose way. More in the "Ooops, forgot to take my hat off in the house" kinda way.
I hear the anthem or I see the flag, my reaction is visceral. It's emotional. There's no ignoring it or forgetting it.
Hussein apparently doesn't feel the same way.

That is a terrible idea.
Why would we reward aggressive regimes pursuing nuke programs and with horrible human rights records by sending the POTUS, when they have broken, violated, or ignored every treaty they ever signed with is? If you do a little research, look up what Bill Richardson and Madeline Albright did with the NKs, what agreements they negotiated, what the media said, and then what the NKs actually did. This latest agreement is going to fall through as well.
So we want the POTUS to meet with the Iranian leadership? Is that the same people who attacked soverign American territory, sacked the US Embassy, kidnapped and held American diplomats prisoners for 444 days, have stated that the Holocaust never happened, Israel should be wiped off the map, there are no gays in Iran, and that they would eventually like to see the US destroyed as well? What a bunch of great people to open a dialogue with. So Obama wants to go meet and negotiate for peace with them? Here is a clue. If Iran ever acquired a nuke, they would put a plan into action to use it against us or the Israelis in about a week. You might want to look up a guy named Neville Chamberlain and check out his actions, comments, and the results as well, see how that turned out.
A visit by the POTUS is a reward and a diplomatic coup, not an opportunity to have an open dialogue. If the POTUS is arriving to sign a treaty, trust me, all of the details have already been worked out and the treaty is already waiting for his signature before AF One takes off.
You might want to review that civics test thread too.
BTW, I think that Obama is a disloyal, appeasing, socialist snake in the grass, and I am with Crip on wanting to kick his ass.
