Here's a little test to see if you use the Left side of your Brain, or your Right side.

Focus on the dancer. If she is spinning Counter-clock wise, you use your Left side more than your Right.

If she's spinning Clockwise, then you use your Right more than your Left.

After you've done that, see if you can focus on her to spin the other way, to which you originally saw her spin.

...and YES, she does have a nice rack. ;)

Hey!! I started off with the dancer going left, then focused to see if I could change it, and now I can only see it right!?! What gives?

That's pretty cool. I like how she was spinning faster and faster, then took off like a bottle rocket. Did that happen for anyone else? :D

Ahhhh, yes. This confirms my observation about politicians who can talk out of both sides of their mouth drawing on whichever convenient portion of their "brain" that houses the notion of the moment. They can do this because most have their heads crammed so far up their 4th POC that their brain is compressed and both sides get jumbled.:D

So then are you saying Sir, that politicians just "Dance" around the subject. :D

Spun clockwise for me the whole time. Could NOT get it to reverse spin.

Apparently, I'm not only right-brained, but I'm hardheaded as well.

Either that, or your eyesight isn't what it used to be, is it Sir.

Now WHO's getting old. :D ;)

Weird!

For sure she was going clockwise when I first looked. I tried to MAKE her go the other way (concentrating), but it didn't work... until i looked down at my keyboard and out of my periphreal vision she starting spinning counter-clockwise! When I looked back up straight-on, she continued going counter-clockwise.

Tried it twice. Both times the result was repeated.

That's just bizarre!

Kept going clockwise, then looked at the toe and kinda' kicked it back the other way. Kicked it again to go back clockwise. After a few more times it became easy to reverse as the toe came to the front/back.

Thats exactly what she did when i looked at her. Then she winked at me :lifter

Started left then switched to right. Was able to change the spin at will pretty much. The best part was when I got her to jump up and down and jiggle....:lifter

The left nipple seems to be more prominent in a left spin.

Ah crap. Now it's going counterclockwise.

Yep, I believe that's what changed my, uh, perception.

This is cool. She spins one way, then the other, and back again...

jatx - She kept raising higher but never took off.

If you look at the image you will notice a shadow at the bottom and it's clearly only rotating to the clockwise when viewed from the top.

clockwise...not surprising...

i guess the L in LK stands for Lefty...no surprise there, either...

It took me a few seconds to figure out the illusion.

Just focus on the moving hip and picture it as the right hip if you want it to move clockwise, picture it as the left hip if you want it to move counterclockwise.

I tend to view it as clockwise.

My reverse-pivot in basketball was usually clockwise (due to being right-handed) so that's how I naturally viewed the motion.

If any of you have practiced any spinning techniques in martial arts, the dancer will probably be spinning the same direction as your preferred spinning direction.

Clockwise, and no reversal in rotation with methods mentioned.

Wonder if there is a hemisphere dominance in SF?

She started spinning counter-clockwise for me for one rotation, then it was clockwise, then I got her to start spinnign counter-clockwise with effort, now I look at her at it looks like she turns clockwise 180-degrees then counter-clockwise 180-degrees and keeps doing it back and forth.

Yep, can make it go back and forth, just imagine the leg never goes behind the dancer, only in fornt and then you see it as gong back and forth instead fo a spin.

Now imagine it in back to in front and and then reverse it. By making that change you can make it spin what ever direction you wish. Your first impression of clock wise or counter is the true read, anything else is now influence caused by other brain functions. :D

Oh well.

It turns clockwise when I look at it straight on and counter when I read something on the page and can only see it out of my peripheral vision. Everytime. I also function on both sides on both of those lists except detail oriented, math & science, knows object name and fantasy based. I don't value astrology at all, but I do function like a gemini. People want you to be on one side of the brain or the other, and when you go outside the box they have you in it messes things up.

Orginally counter but then without trying clockwise, then as I looked at it, it would change direction at will, not mine.

Left/Right - What I find significant about this process is the decision making ability, and one’s SA adaptability. An individual’s perspective either total right or left would indicate, at least to me, to view problem solutions as black or white. Hence, limiting, or discounting other points of view. Using my own perspective, I first view the dancer in a left configuration, then fully to the right. I assume, that my problem solving skills first analyzed what the figure was doing, in relation to the question; (left brain problem solving) then once the brain processed the info, it moved the figure to the right.
That being said, and not to be redundant, I again will assume that I process the problem/question, and then moved to the creative/right side for a solution.
Some other thoughts: Only with great effort, could I focus on reversing the movement. This indicated to me that once my brain attacked the problem/question, it enter a stage that without new or changing info, I was locked in a visual that required no other action on my part.
Assuming that is true, I will venture to say that a person with left/right brain function would be apt to solve problem and solutions on the move, and be open to a changing environment; and have a better than average SA.
Although, I’ve never used this test in hiring, I see as a great tool in assembling a staff. I think I would want a mix combination of people with dual, and one sided attributes. I feel it would give me the greatest advantage to overcome obstacles and complete task.
That’s my .02, Penn

I'm not going to wax intellectual about this, but it "is" interesting. I looked at the damn thing for 15 minutes off and on, thinking it was total BS. The entire time trying to get it to turn from clockwise to counter. Then I took it to an engineer who works for me, and he said it was total BS too. Then all of the sudden he said it was turning counter. It was clearly not in my eyes, otherwise we both would've been looking on snopes.com to check the BS meter. He went on to describe how he could change the direction at his own will. I went back to my desk, and left it running on one of my screens for a while, then after I drifted off back to work (software engineering) I looked up and damn'd if it wasn't going counter. With some success now, I can get it to switch, but I'm only about successful about a 1/3rd of the time. Sometimes I have to read some of the print on the border of the page in order to get it to go counter... concentrating obviously, and using logic and reason while I'm reading. It doesn't work if I kinda read and look at the picture with my peripheral.

This image is a 2 dimensional projection of a 3 dimensional motion.
Information is lost when going from 3 dimensions to 2.

A clockwise or counter-clockwise spin will project the exact same 2 dimensional motion. **
The direction of spin, change of direction, etc. are all created by your brain filling in the missing information.

Who knows whether the right brain/left brain list has any validity.

**Arcane details
Strictly speaking, the counter-clockwise spin must be a reflection of the clockwise spin (or vice versa) with the axis of reflection parallel to the axis of spin.
Additionally, the projection from 3 diminsions to 2 must be perpindicular to the axis of spin.
Both requirement appear to have been met in this example.

I can get it to swap back and forth at will now.

Basically by concentrating on the legs/feet, it appears to me that the legs will begin to oscillate, or swing back and forth from clockwise to counter like a metronome. After they begin to swing back and forth, you can pretty much choose which way you wish to view it.

Totally clockwise. I can only get her to switch if I look away and look at her in my peripheral vision. But she only switches for a moment.

As I get older, I don't know if I'm changing, or I'm just more honest with myself. I used to test out as an extrovert, but I think I'm introverted. I used to think I was totally left brain, but I'm beginning to suspect I'm more right brain. This just adds another piece to the puzzle, if it's valid.

I guess it depends if I have taken my meds or not. With meds, she seems to hold her arms out to me and wink. Then she does some sort of a wave in like she wants me to join her. Really strange I say. I got it, I watched an episode of Millennium last night with the meds.:p
