View Full Version : Snake Wine
Got an email from my son saying he had recently been treated to some snake wine in a location outside the US. Couldn't really believe there was such a thing so I Googled it. Sure enough - there it was. Have any members here partaken of this elixir? If so, what were your impressions of the stuff? Any after effects? Does one type of snake make a better tasting wine?

I am curious what this stuff is. Blood in a glass?
RL - when I Googled it I came up with a few references and some pics that I presumed were real but I don't know for sure. The pics showed a glass container with a larger opening than a conventional wine bottle with a snake or snakes immersed in the "liquid." It looked pretty nasty to me. That's why I was curious if anyone on PS.com had tried it.
My guess is Vietnam vets or guys from First Group would most likely have the opportunity to try it.
As for me, I will stick to some of the fine wines of the Pacific Northwest.

Apparently it is rice wine with a snake in the bottle.

I have participated in the Yard ceremonies where rice wine was pulled thru a reed straw stuck into the bottle. Gotta taste it to get the real effect.
However, i have never seen a snake in the wine, have you looked into India traditions, this is too bizarre not to get all the data we can.

There's also drinking rice wine with a cobra heart and drinking cobra blood. I remember reading something about people in Laos doing cobra egg shooters.
Heh, and you can get a bottle on ebay.
