You truly do appreciate how difficult a job and how dangerous the job really is for SF out in A-Stan....its a well made documentary and I was sorry to hear of the losses....its never good to lose anyone, esp. friends and collegues.
Message from YouTube:
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Twentieth Century Fox Cable Corporation"
Ah crap. I think a large portion of whatever is on you-tube is going to go then.
Having said that, they claim copyright but they dont even make the documentaries available to the public even after showing it on tv...
Thats what really sucks.

How old is this documentary? I thought this was one you could pick up on DVD at any Best Buy or find online. I'm trying to find video clips to see if it's the one I'm thinking of (missed these ones by a couple days it looks like).
Heh, reminds me of when Discovery's Planet Earth first came out and YouTube took down all the full length episodes, yet it wasn't available to buy yet from the Discovery store either.
The Dave: I believe this is a new documentary that aired for the first time near the end of May of this year. I remember seeing it advertised on the Science channel and being frustrated because my Satellite package only offers NGC channel with the super-premium-deluxe option, heh.
I am fairly sure the one that you are referring to is "National Geographic: Inside Special Forces" which I see on Amazon that was made in 2004. I believe that one is a more of a documentary on the unit, whereas this one tells the events of a 10-day mission in the rock pile.
From the NGC site:
"Inside the Green Berets [TV-14 VL]
Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at 10P
In a remote outpost in south-central Afghanistan, a group of Americans stand in the breach between the rule of law and the rule of terror. They are Green Berets, part of an elite division of the U.S. Army Special Forces, charged with protecting local civilians from the wrath of the Taliban. For this film, the Pentagon waived their 48-hour limitation on embedded media and allowed NGC cameras to chronicle the lives of these war-hardened Americans for 10 days. "
I am at least a little satisfied I got to watch it last week before it was taken down.....oh well...but you realize and appreciate what a tough life and dangerous job these guys perform in the military. Esp. in the middle of no where with so much to deal with.

Inside The Green Berets was a phenomanal documentary that showed what you guys do over there. It was great inspirational tool for me to consider being among the ranks of you fine men.
This documentary is available via bit-torrent,if you have a relevant program.i downloaded it via said source back when it first came out
Is this available for purchase anywhere yet? I checked the NG websites but no dice. My brother's unit was featured in it and I'd like to get it for him as a gift. Thanks for any help on this.

As someone else previously stated, it's on bittorrent.
Try searching on btjunkie(dot)org. I remember the file being large, so it might take some time.
Thanks. Apparently my skill at using their search feature is in the toilet.

Thanks for that...watching it again a 3rd time :p
That was definately a fine documentary, one that I learned a lot from. It blows me away how SF rolls out with no doors given the threat of IEDs. But from experience, heavy armored doors are a hinderance when you need to dismount quick and in a hurry...plus a 240B on a swivel isn't so bad;)

It was well done and I doubt that TV crew will ask again to ride with Special Forces. They now realize how dangerous it is to travel in our shadows.
As far as the doors go it all has to do with maintaining situational awareness. It's an SF thing......;)
