I need to see how my son's health is progressing first. If I can make it, I certainly would like to go.

And then there is the issue of spousal consent . . . :( ;)

I'm not sure what that really means.:munchin

Do you have a lot of friends in San Francisco?

Sir,

Yes, I do, and most voted for Bush twice!

Seriously, I run into more members of a certain demographic in Dallas than in SF. They don't move to SF just to hang out in places where they're likely to encounter dudes like me. ;)

And then there is the issue of spousal consent . . .here's hoping your son's health is not a factor...the matter of spousal consent is an issue beyond divine intervention, however...

It's on a Tuesday. Can't you fly up for a "deposition" or something?

Best wishes for your son's continued recovery.

I noticed on the list of entries they did not list Blanton's, a single barrel bourbon made in Kentucky. Blanton's has been banned from most of the whiskey symposiums in the mid-west because it's taken most of the prizes. That pissed off the guys at Maker's Mark (which I live 20 minutes from, BTW) and Jim Beam (which I live 35 minutes from).

Kentucky is a kick ass place to live if you dig bourbon and whiskey. Part of the reason is because KY is such a friggin hole that you pretty much have to be sauced to tolerate it over an extended period of time. :D

I love Blanton's, it's my go-to drink of choice. In fact, I know a great bourbon bar in SF where you can get Blanton's, Pappy, or just about anything else your heart desires.

Jim Beam? Isn't that used for cleaning boots or something? :D

I use Jim Beam to take the old Em-nu off my LBE buttons when I have to repaint them. :D

Jim Beam is a good bourbon for the price.

I have drank it regularly when I could not get (or afford) the good stuff.

My wife uses it for cooking, though I caught her tapping into my Booker's recently when a marinated steak I put on the grill instantly exploded into flames. She has a new bottle of Beam now.

Blantons is excellent, I have a bottle courtesy of a very good friend.

Sir's, and respected guests...

Have ANY of ya'll tried Bulleit Bourbon? It is so much smoother than JD, or Book's...at 90 proof, it is the best, IMHO. Very Humble in fact. ;)

Sir, you are supposed to drink it. LOL

RTK, search for "bourbon" here -- there are some fans of it here and we have had some discussions.

jatx, are you trying to get me in trouble? LOL But it is true that I get to the Bay Area frequently on business, so it is not out of the question. I did suggest to Catwoman that we go if the kids are up to it, so we'll see . . .

I prefer to sip it on special occasions, not swill it all at once.:D

It sits beside a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle's and another of Booker's.

I drink the Knob Creek and Maker's Mark on regular occasions.

Research complete.

When you get to come out to Kentucky for that trip (if you haven't already) you have an open invitation to stop by. We'll hit the Maker's Mark distillery. You can dip a bottle in the wax at the end of the tour and take it home (obviously, for a price).

Hey, Hey !! I've already got an upscale hotel room for RL when and if he ever gets here to the Blue Grass state of Kentucky.

After the Makers tour, then I've got seats in the clubhouse for Churchill Downs. Assuming we make it after the tour of the Makers distillery. :munchin
