View Full Version : Stanley Cup Playoffs
With the Colorado Avalanche not making it into the playoffs this year (I know now what a L.A. Kings fan feels like....WOW ;) ), I really haven't been watching the playoffs as much as I usually do. But I still keep an eye on the games and will watch a match up from time to time.
So....going into the finals we have.....
In the East..... the Buffalo Sabres v. the Ottawa Senators
In the West.....the Anaheim Ducks v. the winner of the San Jose Sharks/Detoliet Red Wings (Wings lead 3-2).
Could the Sabres pull out a victory, against a pretty good team, such as the Sens?
I think that the Wings will win their series against the Sharks tonight and go on and beat the Ducks.
I'm seeing a Sabres v. Wings match up for the most coveted trophy, in all of sports. With Buffalo hoisting the Cup in a major upset, in 7 games.

The loss of Schneider will hurt the Wings a lot. Still a scary team, though.

Right now those of us who are Sabres fans will settle for a miracle........

I'm really not too suprised that the wings lost to the ducks. For some ungodly reason, the wings just couldn't hold a lead if their life depended on it. game 5 is a HUGE example of blowing a game. How can you allow them to score in the last minute of a game when you've been playing solid D for 59 minutes??? After my buddy told me that they had pushed the game into overtime I honestly thought that the ducks would win that game. Sure enough the wings lost that game and eventually got beat in game 6(just thought some of you might want the recap). No offense to any Ducks fans in this forum, but I think the senators are going to dominate this series. The wings outplayed and outshot the ducks every game of that series, but still lost to them somehow, and now I think the senators will be able to run over the ducks if they play the way they did against the sabres. The only way the ducks will win the cup is if they step up their defense to a level they haven't played at through the entire playoffs. Good luck to the ducks, I'd much rather see them win than the senators... mainly because an old friend of mine is beating his chest at everything that moves yelling about how great the senators are. Wouldn't mind seeing him cry over the senators losing the cup.
I also feel sorry for you Sir, after Colorado got rid of Forsberg your team had no real offensive playmakers. Maybe you should bring back Claude "The Turtle Shell" Lemieux to get your offense going again.

Actually, I and a lot of AVS fans weren't sorry to see Forsberg go. In fact we welcomed the fact that he was leaving. Peter is a very good player. He could be a great player, if he stayed healthy enough during the seasons and off season. I don't think he has ever played an entire season, from pre season, and into the playoffs.
The biggest mistake the AVS ever made, was getting rid of Chris Dury....and just where did he end up....ummmmmm......Buffaloooooo......no, we need Chris back here to really get out offense going again. Super Joe has only about 4-6 more, good years left in him. We need Chris back. :(

That is very true, Sir. Chris Drury definitely helped your line and it goes to show he did make a difference in Buffalo. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait till next year to see what happens. I'm just hoping Chelios and Hasek still have a lot of fight in them to make it through next season, that is if they actually come back.
Ottawa Senators all the way...
B.
Well.....I hate to admit it, but Barry Melrose was right. He picked the Ducks, at the beginning of the season, to go all the way, and hoist the hardware.
I hate to say this but....congrats to the Ducks...
Scotty N, sure does have a lot of gray, in that playoff beard of his.....hehehehe...:D

Was it just me or did anyone else notice how smug and arrogant that preening ass Bettman was? Nobody in that rink, or any of the limited amount of hockey fans watching on television gave one smidgen of interest in his thanks to the General Managers, team owners, and other "behind the scenes dignitaries" of the league. Just give the damned cup to the team and let them have their moment, sheesh!
Bettman has destroyed interest in this sport. :(

I actually was interested. The Samuelis and Brian Bruke have done wonders with that team.
I think Bettman actually saved the sport with the new CBA and new rules. The league just needs better marketing. The NBC/Versus deal was a big mistake.
