Who approved moving it off the coin's face in the first place?

The "mistake" was not printing the "In God We trust" on the EDGE of the coin.

Look at a penny.

I say again, who took "In God We Trust" off the FACE of the coin?

IMHO, the actual mistake was taking it off the face of the coin, where "In God We Trust" belongs.

From what I've read too, it was a mistake. That several hundred of them made it past the inspectors.

Was it deliberate, in that the US mint has been trying like crazy to get the US 1 dollar coin to become popular, (We Americans just like our paper money), or was it a big mistake on the mints part to get these coins into circulation?

From what I've read, it looks as if the coins came from the Philly mint only, no reports of any coming out of the Denver mint, so you guys on the East coast keep your eyes out for these "mistake" coins. They're selling for upwards of $50.00 a piece on E-bay, to collectors.

As far as "In God we Trust" not being on the face of the coin, like all the other coins in circulation....yes it is wrong and sucks. This is the 3rd "face lift" that the mint has given the 1 dollar coin in the past 25 years. I think they're just trying something new.

And thats just one step away from taking it off permanently...

Don't agree with it either, but you know someone is going to try it sooner or later. They're still arguing about The Pledge of Allegiance...

My point exactly. Only no one's complained about it... certinly not as loud as the secular-progressives who bitch about our "Nation Under God."
