View Full Version : Skill Identifier codes

After looking around at several Quiet Professional soldier's profiles, I noticed most if not all have skill identifier codes after their MOS title.
W7 =SCUBA
W8 = HALO
W9= HALO/SCUBA
Z= is what E-8 and E-9 Carry because they are proficient in all the tasks in the specific MOS
H= Instructor to Instructors
This information has been given to me from NDD and also Team Sergeant.
If anyone has a link or FM where the skill identifiers can be found I'd appreciate it and I'm sure there are others that would too.
Thank you,
-Robertson

Actually the possibilities are technically non-existant as officers are not awarded ASIs but Officer Skill Codes. I know, I know, I am nit picking. On the more serious side however I can't think of any Officer Skill Code that is worth anything in the combat arms where the primary instructor for that officer was not an NCO. So if you think we come by our additional qualifications easily then I guess you NCOs only have yourselves to blame.:D

NDD,
When I looked around on usmilitary.about.com in reference to Officer Skill Identifiers all that was listed was Enlisted ASI's. So my question to be more specific was do officers have compared to ASI's
Sir,
As an 18A what does 5SGM stand for after your MOS.

5S means ranger-parachutist (although I would have prefered the term paratrooper)
GM indicates I am a german speaker which means right about now after several years of not using it I know about enough to get my face slapped.
(actually they really are called ASIs but I just couldn't sit here with that sucking chest wound NDD gave me)

Where do I sign up?:D
Of all the things one could do in the Army, why one earth would anyone sign the dotted line for that one?
I apologize but I just have to make a correction. "LA" was Latino or Latin American as distinguished from Spanish as spoken in Europe.
QRQ: former 05B4SLA and former 0511329 . "29" was German. Notice that back then it was still possible to write an MOS on a single line.
