Dana Blanton, the polling director for Fox News, was on with John Gibson. She shared the results of a poll that I found pleasantly surprising. http://www.foxnews.com/bigstory/ Check out the "We Ask, You Decide" video.
Iraq Matters to US Security
Yes: 77%
No: 19%
Dems three times more likely to say no.
A Congressional resolution opposing Bush's new Iraq plan would:
Make a positive difference in U.S. policy: 24%
Encourage the enemy and hurt morale: 47%
How seriously should the United States take "death to America" threats on Islamic television?
Very: 64%
Somewhat: 24%
Not Very: 7%
Not at all: 2%
Does this first question's results mean what I think it means? Despite the lamestream media's attempts to spread FUD, do my countrymen actually "get it?" Could this be evidence that the recent election results were not due to the success of the Democrats and their "Phased Surrender" agenda, but the failure of the Republicans to live up the their potential, and the promises in 1994. Feeling that a war is "mishandled" doesn't mean you don't want to complete the mission, nor does it mean you don't understand the importance of the mission.
I feel that question two was written in a way to lead people towards a specific conclusion, and so I'm shocked at the number of people who feel that it will have a positive outcome. By all means, let's continue to offer encouragement to our enemies. How many Iraqis may hedge their bets by looking the other way when insurgents are around, or avoiding cooperation with the coallition for fear that we'll leave them to the wolves if the going gets a little tough? There are a lot of lives at stake in this conflict, and not just in Iraq in Afghanistan. The fall of Iraq could be the modern equivalent of the fall of Constantinople.
The responses to question three should be of no surprise. For years, Islamic thugs have said they were going to bring the war to us. In 1993, they attacked the WTC and it was virtually ignored by the Clinton administration. Most Americans shrugged it off. There was no shrugging off the next attacks on our soil, and we'd do well to not forget how we felt that day, nor should we take the threats as mere rhetoric.
All in all, this poll has helped restore some of my faith in our US countrymen.
PATTON VS MULLAH OMAR
Oct 2001 Taliban supreme leader, mullah mohammed omar: "The situation where we are now, there are two things: either death or victory. To those who are fighting and bombarding us, they should understand the Afghan man is a fighter willing to die for jihad."
June 1944 General George S. Patton: "I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country..."
