One word why Indy wins:

R-E-X!

Playoffs performances:
Rex Grossman: 2 TD, 1 INT, QB Rating: 75.8 / Peyton Manning: 2 TD, 6 INT, QB Rating: 66.8

Manning hasnt completed a pass over 30 yards in the playoffs, and wont against the Bears secondary

Adam Vinateri is the reason Indy is in the Superbowl not Peyton Manning. Manning couldnt get into the Endzone until Patriots game...........

If the Colts kickoff/punt teams perform like they did in the AFC Championship Devin Hester will score on them........

This game isnt about Grossman vs. Manning its going to be about defense and special teams.

GO BEARS!!

I'll go with the Bears, something about "defense wins championships." I agree with Goggles, mffjm8509's rationale is very compelling. Either way, Chicago covers.

It would be nice to see Manning and Dungy win the SB; however, one more new TV commercial featuring Manning, and I would have to jettison that sentiment.

Did I miss something? Did Adam Vinatieri get hurt or traded back to the Pats? He is still playing Sunday, right?

And Addai and Rhodes are nothing to sneeze at either. The Super Bowl has a weird way of making good backs great, even if it's just for one game (see Timmy Smith, Washington Redskins, Super Bowl XXII). They may be just enough under the Manning Radar to be impact players in this game.

As usual, when Vinatieri is involved, it will come down to a last second field goal. Colts win 20-18.

But, then again, I'm a "Dolphan"...and my team's sitting at home right now...

I agree with you on all points, BUT the Bears have really played a soft schedule, especially late in the season. The Colts have been playing some really strong defense of late, especially against the run. The Bears have been running the ball well, and they will have to considering we are not sure which Rex will show up.

The loss to the Patrios in week 12 was the last time the Bears played a really good team, unless you count the Saints who were basically playoff rookies.

I had no idea how soft the last 5 weeks of their schedule was: Vikings at week 13 (W), Rams in week 14 (W), Bucs in week 15 (W), Lions in week 16 (W), Packers in week 17 (L, meaningless game). Not one of those teams finished with a winning record. On top of that, not one of those teams even had a winning record when they played the bears after week 12 (Vikings were 5-6 going into wk 13, Rams were 5-7 wk 14, Bucs were 3-10 wk 15, Lions 2-12 wk 16, Packers were 7-8 wk 17).

If that's not soft, I don't know what is. The AFC is much stronger than the NFC, and the interconference record reflects that.

Uh, he plays in this same conference as the Ravens and Chargers.

My guess is he's had his bell rung a few times.

The Ravens and Chargers are great defensive teams. Since 02 the Colts have beaten the Ravens four times. In the last game they sacked him only one time. I am sure Big Ben wishes he had the same luck. In the same time period the Colts and Chargers Split two games one a piece. I still think the Bear's defense will be harder for him to deal with, and will hit him harder than he thought possible. He is a great QB and it will be a good game to watch.

Just my .02

The Skins bent him in half and almost ripped his head off in the first half of the game they played earlier this season. Too bad they didn't take him out, because he came back in the second half and destroyed them.

Where's the sizzle, it seems like there's not much buzz around the game. While I think it will be a good game, it seems like just a bunch of guys picking up a lunch pail and going in for another day of work.

Of course, if a dysfunctional team with an egomaniac, spotlight-hungry owner like the Cowboys or Redskins were in the game, I'd be first in line ranting and raving about "all flash, no substance!"

The Bears need 3 things to win: Jim McMahon, the 'Frig Perry, and the Super Bowl Shuffle...

The lunch pail game. That sounds good to me, because it's a bunch of guys (just like Soldiers) going to work to accomplish a mission. Except for those stupid commercials, even Peyton is not flashy. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, while great receivers, just do the job. Brian Urlacher is great, but just plays. Perhaps this game should be the one for Americans to be proud of. No T.O. making noise, no Chad Johnson dancing in the end zone, no Reggie Bush doing TD flips. Just business. It works for me.

I like both teams, unfortunately, so have to choose the one I think will win; I just feel like the Colts will score monster points. If the Bears win, well that'll be satisfactory as well.

I thought the Bears defense would be all over Manning. One sack and almost no pressure the rest of the game. I was sure Rex would play well, and vindicate Lovie's sticking with him.
Wrong on both accounts:o

I did security for the Colts during the week preceeding the game, and the Colts after game party at the hotel.

Mostly it was boring, which is good. I spoke with Vinatieri, good dude. Payton Manning kind of kept to himself, he isolated himself mostly and was just very very focused and quiet. The D backs were lots of fun. I think I had the most fun being around them.

The party at the hotel was like a wedding party, only less exiciting. I've seen better parties at Infantry Battalion dinning ins. Lots of old geezers, not real rowdy. There were still a few hangers on till about 7 a.m. But I think mostly everyone was in a hurry to get back to Indy.

The Colts aint my team, the AFC aint my conference, so I hardly knew any of them, which was good, cause it let me be disinterested and focused on security. Tony Dungy was really cool to a couple of the guys working with me, he insisted they take pics with him holding the trophy after the game, way cool.
