Law Catches up to Private Militaries

What caught my eye was "They're (private security companies) now subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the same set of laws that governs soldiers. But here's the catch: embedded reporters are now under those regulations, too. "

Wonder how this will go over if the bill passes. If it does pass will the reporters no longer have the right to free speech? If not, is that nessesarily a bad thing?

I'm sure most contractors have acted ethically and watched their P's and Q's. After all, isn't Idema still in prison in Kabul? I'm no fan of his, but I'm sure his incarceration was a slap of reality to anyone up to no good.

Need real legal folks on this one... "How can you hold a civilian under the UCMJ?" While it is a uniform code it is not nor ever has been directed to civilians....

Also wouldn't this protect PMCs from Iraqi law...?

EDIT: Also I would think this would only pertain to PMCs/PSCs in direct support of DOD/DOS and not others who are sub-contracted by other companies...to include PSCs who support things like LOGCAP..That is a sub-contract to KBR or whoever has the contract and not directly contracted by the US Government. Stretching this point would the Corps of Engineers contracted PSC be in this group?

After reading that I will say that military.com has gone completely "liberal media". I could do without the condescending tone that article spewed.

I'm thinking that's the last article posted on ProfessionalSoldiers.com here from military.com.

The rest of you can keep the fat civilians that own military.com in caviar I'll have nothing further to do with them.
