Interestingly enough, the caption says that the execution was done by "vengeful countrymen".

Here's part of the caption:

"Clutching a Quran and refusing a hood, Saddam Hussein went to the gallows before sunrise Saturday, executed by vengeful countrymen after a quarter-century of remorseless brutality that killed countless thousands and led Iraq into disastrous wars against the United States and Iran."

Almost sounds like their trying to make him a victim, and admit his atrocities at the same time. We've become so PC that we can't even call a bad guy a bad guy without making some kind of excuse for him.
