I think my favorit part of that whole lie is the fact that "Retiring as a staff sergeant, Smith" couldn't make it past SSG as a SF NCO. Where do these people freakin come from?

I think I will be writing the Author of the article, to let him know that his subject is full of it. I would appreciate some backup from those who wish to do so. Thanks....

Yeah especially coupled with this statement earlier in that piece.
"Smith joined up with the Army’s Special Forces a few years after entering the service, primarily for the career advancement opportunities that came from being a part of an elite unit, he tells".

Wow, I'm in the AF and that story smells funny. He never once mentions what group he was assigned to while in SF.
Longwire, nail this guy!! I hate posers more than anything.
B Teams had at the time a NBC NCO that was non-SF. He would go where ever the B Team went. Also there are other NBC NCOs scattered throughout a group. During GW I they got a heck of a work out.
I would say he might have been assigned to an SF Group for a while and decided to "fill in some blanks" on his service.
The NBC NCO of A/3/5 during GW I was named Smith. But that ain't him. That SGT Smith was white.

This smells like BS. What's wrong with this reporter that he didn't verify the claims and ask for substantiation? Posers bug me, but so do sloppy reporters.
Of all the folks I've met casually (i.e., not through someone I knew to be legit or on base when doing business with the military) who've claimed to be SF, Delta, SEALs, CIA, FFL, Force Recon, etc., I think there've been two instances when they weren't full of it. It's to the point now that when someone makes a claim a voice in my head shouts "Oh, horseshit!"
That dude oozes with awsomitity. ( Act of being awsome).:D
For the record I retired as a SSG 18C. So it is not outside the realm of possibility.
But those damn skeletons in the closet will get you every time.
He was attached to D Company, 502nd Aviation during desert storm I dident know they where a SF unit . must have been a long walk from saudi arabia to that palace he watched for 2 weeks.....
If only the word would come down from higher I would shoot this heir sniper rifle and end the war.

I sent an e-mail to Mr. Anthony Trojan. I asked him if he did any fact checking and if he didn't he needed to check facts before writing stories. Waiting to see if I get a reply.

I haven't heard of an 8" mortar being used since the Civil War. He doesn't look that old.
I also need me one of those MacMillan M2 .50 sniper rifles. Last time I checked, the only .50 rifles available during DS/DS were Barretts. The M-2 .50 BMG is not a sniper rifle.
This guy is a full of shit as a Christmas goose.

No, knew him when I was the SGM in 93/94. He made every road trip we were on. While the NBC NCO, he was a general get everything done kinda' guy.
We were in KMOD one time and I mentioned Tuaregs. He goes "Tuareg? What's a Tuareg?" After I explained he still thought I was pulling his leg and had made up a word. And now they came out with a car. I wonder if he remembers.

Do yourself and "us" a favor, don't give interviews to reporters, especially those that display their papers on the internet.
This guy is my new HERO! (I sure wish I would have run into him during Desert Storm........ )

I have to vouch for the travelling story - he made me meet the in-laws (see first word in quoted text) at least I got a couple of beers prior.
