Thanks for all the advice and feedback in all the subjects...specially in the rucking and care of your feets area... Any last minute advice on how to keep your head in the game and control the Butterflys in the stomach feeling???:D

Thank you.

Well, for an intro post and then this one a few weeks later I think you should do well as a "grey man". Keep your head down and aim for the 25 meter target.

Good luck and report back.

TR-
I think Pete was complimenting him on the intro and then going grey until he gave his SFAS date, not blasting him.

Roger, thanks.

The butterflies mean you need more PT.

reillo584-

Fear, moderated by intelligence is good. Focus on what you need to do, one task at a time, or in some cases many tasks in too little time.
Give it Hell, good luck!

reillo584 - As it has been said look at that 25 Meter target. What you have to do at that timeframe.

Hopefully you can tell a joke, just don't be a smart@$$. Humor always helps out in rough times.

I won't say good luck, because luck won't have anything to do with it. Work your butt off and stay the course and you'll make it. Be a human sponge.

Good morning Gentlemans,

I came back from selection two days ago. Basically I V.W. from the course on the second day of "team week". I was so close to finish but my " hearth" wasn't there anymore , maybe I was fine physically (my back was hurting but not to the point of make it a reason to "med drop") My feets where fine, just one small blister. The main reason for me I will said was that I start to realize that SF wasn't for me...I was so disappointed of myself...The main reason was my family, I'm married got two kids and a beautiful wife, that was something that really was killing me,just thinking on all the time that I was facing away from my family and then the pace of training and deployments once you are inside a ODA team was something that I don't think that I will be able to handle....I thought that I was ready but I was wrong...SF it's not for everybody... I got no regrets, It was a great experience, I learn a lot of myself (my weakness and my strenghts), I was able to find some points during the night at the start course,(I'm a support guy, land nav it's not one of my strenghts).
I met new people, but over everything else the chance of met the professional soldiers (cadre and role players)at Camp Mackall. I fell a lot of respect for all the people inside the Special Forces community, and I will try to support them by any ways or any means.
If any of my friends ask me about it I will encourage them to try and "go for it"
that's the only way to know if you got the SF material. Thanks one more time for all the feedback and info; That's it for now, I will be lurking around for a while.

Thanks for reporting back to us with your experience and sharing your personal story.

That is a classic example of why we tell people that they need to have their head right and to keep their minds focused and in the game at all times while at SFAS.

Odds are that SF soldiers today spend no more time deployed than conventional forces, and go with a better, more mature group of people, but self-doubt will kill you faster than blisters or a bad back.

Sounds like SFAS worked, and I am glad that we did not waste any more of your time or ours.

Thanks for trying.
