Just finished Robin Sage (great experience and great cadre), and I graduate on Friday... Got assigned to 1st SFG (A), but I'm not sure whether I'm heading to Lewis or Oki yet. They said we should find out this week. Right now I'm just happy to be done. Alright I'm going to get some sleep.

Congratulations. Like NDD said you're not finished, you're just getting started. If at best you learned 65% to 75% of your job during the SFQC.

Keep your head on during the last part (few months) after you Graduate on Friday. Good luck.

So you are in the 1st at Lewis?

Thats great! How about volunteering to sponser Mr. Skipjack? Lewis is a peculiar place to say the least as I am sure you already know.

I can tell a war story or two about my 'sponsor', an officer who obviously didn't know what 'sponsor' meant.

Quick question. Where is your graduation at? I'm attending the SFQC graduation this friday. Is both at the same location? If so that would be great since I can kill two birds with one stone.

Nah, 18C would use a wrist rocket (3/4 in surgical tubing variety) with #8 ball bearings, and he'd probably mount a scope on it too.

18C4V,

Graduation on Friday is at the auditorium on the left hand side when your heading off Owen Dr. towards the Fayetteville Airport. I'm not sure of the name, but it's over there near the coliseum. I believe it starts at 1100, but I haven't seen a schedule yet. I could get some more details for you tomorrow if you would like.

The information I have is that "Donning the Beret" Ceremony is at 1100 hrs. on Thursday at the Auditorium. On Friday graduation ceremonies will be at 1600 hrs at the same venue.

I believe this graduating class numbers between 250 and 300.

There has been no mention of a Regimental Dinner.

The information I have is slightly different.
I was told the Beret Ceremony is 1600 Thursday at Bull Simons Plaza. The Graduation is 1100 Friday at Cumberland County Auditorium.

Can someone give a definitive answer to this question?

Thanks -

After making some calls, this is what I was told as well. But I will find out tomorrow at formation as well!

TR,

LOL, yeah that would be a real heart breaker (Candidate, you have failed to negotiate this obstacle, would you like to try again?)! Especially since I haven't ever missed or been late for a formation since I joined the Army! Those are the times and places we were told, but I just like reconfirming things more than once... especially the way they change around here!

Yes. Been here for about 3+ months now. I have no problem with sponsering him. I'm not aware of any formal way but I do know the COC asked us if we had recieved sponsers. It seemed no one had.

Skipjack, let me know when you are getting ready to arrive over here if you are coming to Lewis. I'll give you my number and such.

Nice ceremony today.

I saw four Group Commanders I knew (1st, 7th, 19th, and Training Group), several BCs, a ton of CSMs, one crusty MW5, one of the SFA senior guys, and about 250 other cool guys.

Well done gents. Don't celebrate too much. When you do celebrate to excess, use a designated driver or call a cab. It will be worth it, trust me.

Good luck.

Congrats skipjack.

Hope you like rain, coffee, more rain, trees, and more coffee.

If you don't have one...I'd recommend a satellite radio or a lot of CD's if you are travelling the southern route to Lewis. Long stretches of static / Mexican radio stations between OKC and Barstow...

Hey Congrats,
If you come out to OKI, stop by A co's dive tm and ask for Ian...I'll fill you in on everything you need to know. Also get up with your sponsor ASAP so he can start scheduling your appointments. Trust me, it's a real pain in the @$$ dealing with the support group here.

Thanks for the invite, but it looks like I'll be heading to Lewis this time. You've got a couple guys coming out to OKI from our graduating class, though. I'd like to get out there eventually, but for right now I have a lot to learn! Thanks again!

The support group he is referring to is an Area Support Group, a regular Army unit, and dealing with them is a necessary formality and all about knowing the system.

Have fun in 1st Group, it's the best SFG(A) in Asia.
