A great man passes. Jeff Cooper passed away today, according to a message on Arfcom. I saw a recent interview with Col. Cooper on TV and was shocked how frail he looked. RIP Colonel.

"Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons."

Friends,

At the request of the family it is my sad duty to report the passing of
our founder, Jeff Cooper. Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon
while being cared for by his wife Janelle and daughter Lindy.

There will be a private internment at Gunsite by invitation, with a
public memorial service at the Whittington Center at a date to be
announced.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

DVC,

This thread spurred me to do a little reading about Colonel Cooper and I ran across his "Commentaries." If you haven't read them, go to: http://www.dvc.org.uk/jeff/index.html

One that made me chuckle.

It does seem to us that there should be some sort of penalty for mangling the national anthem. We have seen various celebrations on the tube in which some sort of pop singer was given the job of rendering the Star Spangled Banner for the multitude. It would appear that many of these people do not only have poor voices but they are unable to carry a tune. This hurts my feelings. Possibly my feelings are too easily hurt. From: Vol. 14, No. 3 March 2006 Springtime In The Rockies
