Jack,

Did you get to the Tunbridge Fair? I kept an eye out for grouchy looking old guys wearing SF ballcaps, but didn't see any.

All,

The "Tunbridge World Fair" is big doings in these parts. Pig races, fried dough, more hippie chicks than I've seen since Garcia died. What's not to like?

There were a number of interesting exhibits, though I suppose on balance not much more to see than most county fairs.

Bill,

I saw an old time lumbering exhibit and got a photo of an axe I thought you might find interesting. I took my film camera, though, so it'll be awhile before I can post it.

Jack,Did you get to the Tunbridge Fair? .

No, my shot record was not up to date. :D

Actually my wife isn't able to cover much ground these days and I am not setting any land speed records either so we wrote it off this year. I think Bill would enjoy the logging exhibit pictures if you get a chance to put them up. I think the things that really amuse me most about the fair is watching the kids with the animals. Last time I went they had some of the livestock in the stream next to the bridge and downstream from that some individual was drawing water to use for washing vegetables that were being prepared for sale in one of the food tents.

Ewwww! That's disturbing.

I had fun, but didn't stay long. I'd taken Dad with me and the walk from the parking lot kind of wore him down, something I should have anticipated. It's hard to realize at times that the man who used to just smoke me on hikes can now go only a quarter mile or so without tiring. One of the Norwich cadets saw he was struggling and got him a chair, which was nice of him.

One sure sees an interesting cross section of humanity there. ;)

One of our neighbors, a native Vermontah, had some stories about the fair from his younger days. I guess forty or fifty years ago it was kind of risque by local standards.

I hope the shots of the logging exhibit come out, I didn't have the best lens on (tried to have a do everything lens on so I wouldn't have as much to carry and of course there isn't one that really does everything.) I could have spent a lot more time at the logging exhibition, there were a number of tools I'd have like to see in use. Oh, well, next year...
