Now you know why the very few times I had to jump with conventional units I tried my best to get at one end of the stick or the other.

I would say that very few, if any of those jumpers had a real load, "more than their body weight", on those jumps.

For you non SF guys watching an SF stick go out the door is like watching people getting off a bus, just a bunch quicker.

I did bounce down the side of a 130 one night because of a weak exit. But that was because I was a walking door bundle. At 6'3" the load was resting on my toes and I was trying to do that "run straight legged in 6 inch steps" to the door.

That film? All I could do was shake my head as I watched.

If you do a search on youtube.com you can find a video of what appears to be the 11th Group making a jump from a C-7. Not sure how old the video actually is though as they are wearing BDU's & K-Pots as well you do not really get a shot of any SSI's to verify unit. Still, interesting to watch and proof positive that hand and arm signals work because you cannot hear squat over the sound of the engines.

Why are these people falling down on the jump platform and fooling around with their static lines after passing them to the JM? That thing can rip your arm off.

Half these troops should be terminated from jump status, if not life.

I loved the helmet blowing off and the rucks coming unsecured at 2:35 and 3:40.

Had to turn the volume off less than a minute into it though. Kept wanting to dry fire.

A Guy in my Company at the 10th almost got his arm ripped off on a jump - static line around the bicep - the bone didn't break, but the muscle separated -he's always going to have a divot in that bicep/tricep - ouch.

WOW. I'm suprised they let that one get out. That looked extremely dangerous, even to the untrained eye. I saw more tumbling than a gymnastics competition. I feel sorry for the one who lost his helmet. Great video.

I had to work the ER at Womack after an 82nd full Div Jump while reclassing to 18D - more neck, back, femur, tib-fib, and arm fractures than I could count. Not to mention the guy that went through the windshield of a duece and a half instead of a PLF, or the guy that decided he wanted to see if he could steer into the open top of an M113, or the guy who straddled a 105 on landing.

They might as well have just thrown them off a cliff, like lemmings.

We did a HALO jump one time and the crew chief informed us that the jump platform in the left door was broken. We said we are HALO jumpers and don't need no stinking jump door platform.

I swear we all knew the platform was not there but I'll be dammed if everyone of us didn't "fall" out of the door that day....... funniest damn thing you ever saw, to the man everyone was "leaping" off a platform that was not there.... just thinking about it makes me laugh....

Holy Crap! It looks like some of those were borderline jump refusals, especially the ones where they make contact with the platform with their 4th point of contact.

Is "Up 6 inches out 36 inches" no longer the instructed method for exiting a C-130?

I seem to remember being taught to make a 90 degree turn and jump up and out.

Some of those guys are lucky they weren't killed or seriously injured.
