There is a contractor working for the army asking people to opine about the article I linked above. Its on a secure Army website, so you need an AKO account to see it, thats why I didn't post it here. But it doesn't seem classified, I just didn't want to make that call. Maybe someone else can get the okay to post it here.

Its a blood boiling read, at least for me.

One of the primary reasons that the camps and larger FOBs in Iraq are divided U.S. / Iraqi is to prevent incidents between the two sides. On such incident took place during my last deployment on a small FOB which was not divided. There was a "miss communication" between an Iraqi army soldier and a member of my company. The U.S. soldier fired five rounds at the Iraqi soldier and struck him once in the back.

That soldier is deploying with me in September, he has recently been assigned a SAW.

For those who don't have an AKO account would the article title be "A Camp Divided"? If it is, it can be googled for access.

If this is the same article, I read it in the journal a couple weeks back and considered posting it, but it was fairly long. IMHO, gives a good comparison of what a conventional vs. unconventional mindset might be.

Sounds like the straight leg Army has not learned it's lessons.

You really need to know what is going on there, somewhat like reading between the lines.

What is the military and political sides of the story.

If true - Soup!
