This story is getting a lot of press right now even though the Army has not confirmed that they have in fact found the bodies of Pvt Tucker and Pvt Menchaca for the obvious reason that they would like the family to hear it from them rather than CNN.
However, even though the correspondent admitted that same fact on the air, he followed it up with the "rumor" that the bodies had been badly mutilated.
For God's sake his mother is probably watching. Is nothing sacred? Could you media jackals at least not give her the mental image of her son's mutilated corpse? What the f**k is wrong with you people?
Every time I think I can't lose anymore respect for the profession of journalism they once again rise to the challenge.
Goddammit.
EDIT: The Army has confirmed that it is the missing Privates pending DNA tests.

RIP. It really bothers me that the press is reporting this if the families have not been formally notified yet. These two young men and their families deserve more respect then they are getting and I don't like it.

I expect no less from the media, that said what I didn't expect was the "Associated Press" signing an Iraqi farmers death warrant;
A farmer claiming to have witnessed the attack told The Associated Press on Sunday that insurgents swarmed the checkpoint, killing the driver of a Humvee before taking two of his comrades captive.
Ahmed Khalaf Falah said three Humvees were manning a checkpoint when they came under fire from many directions. Two Humvees went after the assailants but the third was ambushed before it could move.
He said seven masked gunmen, one carrying a heavy machine gun, killed the driver of the third vehicle and took the two other U.S. soldiers captive. His account could not be verified independently.

First; Rest in peace all three of you dedicated soldiers. You will be missed and this country cannot thank you enough!
Second; While I cannot begin to fathom the grief family members are going through these quotes "Because the US government did not have a plan in place my nephew has paid for it with his life", and "the US government was too slow to react with this, there should have been a plan in place" (Ken MacKenzie uncle of Pfc Kristian Menchaca) bothers me. Not so much that he (MacKenzie) is obviously grieving but it is the exact line taken from the Democratic party assault on POTUS regarding the GWOT, and it was stated during an interview with....wait for it....NBC's "today" show.
Does anyone have shame anymore? I'm appalled at both this individual and the press as a whole. This is outrageous and shows no respect to the families of soldiers still fighting (not to mention the 8K who were franticly searching for their brothers) and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Ahmed Khalaf Falah said
They just sent this poor guy up $h!t creek without a paddle... And for no apparent reason. These guys are just abusing freedom of speech. Reporters here should have to be interns in China or Russia.

RIP Soldiers
RIP.
Why would anybody be surprised at the press virturally confirming the deaths of two American warriors? They have been doing it for years and sorry to say I am numb from it. Many (most) in the press are completely self-absorbed and only concerned about their career giving little or no thought to how their actions effect others. They broadcast a dead american being dragged through the streets of Mogadisiu , put in print how and why the USG gathers intell and the list goes on. It is a sad state of affairs.
God rest your Souls STRIKE Soldiers.
Thats the same area I patrolled from Camp Kalsu in OIF 1. Its a rough place. I bet that Squad leader is in his own private hell right now. God be with him and the rest of that Squad. Keep your chin up, even when your neck is dirty. Man up and honor that sacrifice.
RIP Soldiers.
The press? I'll just file this one away for future thoughts and words.
Rest in Peace, Warriors, and thank you for your service.
RIP, Warriors.
God help their families through this horror.
Rest in Peace Soldiers. I hoped for a different outcome, but I am glad we found our men and can bring them home.
The media? As soul-less as the bastards that slaughtered these Warriors.

While God lifts you to your heavenly rest, his other hand embraces your families in their darkest hour.
May God answer my prayers to avenge your deaths. May he forgive my selfishness in beseeching him to strike down and banish to hell all zealots claiming Islam as their cause.
Dear God, give these fathers the strength and wisdom to resist exacting a thousand revenges against the followers and sympathizers of these Lucifers of Islam, for I know I would surely need your help!
Finally Lord, The American soldier is your servant. He fights for freedom asking no favor from those he seeks to liberate. He fights for righteousness perhaps guided by scripture, yet he is indicted for transgressions spawned by the horrors of war. Horrors only known by those who have looked into the eyes of a friend departed, just moments before alive.
The American Soldier sees the Face of Evil Lord. Call upon the Archangel dear Lord to again banish to hell the lucifers of our world. Bestow the power and guile of St. Michael upon the American Soldier so that he might stand shoulder to shoulder with the Archangel in seizing the serpents of Islam.
Casting them to hell, removing them from the lands once travelled by your disciples.
Bestow the might, bestow the strength and bestow the speed of Michael upon our American Soldier. For only he can prevent the face of evil appearring before me oh Lord.
..ditto. I wanted to say the same things.. Its a dang hard thing to do, to restrain yourself from jacking up everyone in the AO that ever gave you a dirty look.
My prayers go out to the NCO's responsible for those three Soldiers. Thats a big bear to wrestle for long dang time.

God bless those soldiers. I feel for the parents and family who had to hear about the torture and pain these brave men were put through. It makes you wonder at what costs the media will go to.
I'm from the same town as Pfc. Tucker and thought you might want this little clipping from a local paper.
http://www.madraspioneer.com/MAPNews0.html
Mostly talks about what he was like in high school but its still not a bad article. Though I never met him this is hitting very close to home we are a very small community and this effects us all a great deal here.
RIP Tucker
Thank you for the article Hagen, it's good to see your community band together in support of the family and I hope they take some small measure of comfort.
Sunday evening and Monday morning, media descended on Madras from all over the area. "Newspeople were banging on the door at 5 a.m.," said Tom Brown.
Bloodthirsty animals that they are.

For you guys here that don't travel Oregon much, Madras is a beautiful Central Oregon city, just over the "hills" from here.
Hagen, Thanks for posting the local story.
RIP Soldiers.
