"Many people say that the world changed forever on September 11, 2001. But for me the day that I knew modern life—at least political life--would never be the same came several years earlier. It occurred on December 2, 1999 during the “Battle for Seattle.” CNN was showing footage of a WTO protestor throwing a news rack through the window of Niketown. The notion that the greatest injustice this young activist could lash out against was being perpetuated by a shoe company filled me with a deep malaise. But then I noticed something odd about his feet.
The protestor was wearing a pair of Nikes."
This little post made me laugh, I had forgotten the timbre of the times back then versus the chaos of today. And that part about talking cars is True! What's up with that anyway?
