There has been a lot of talk recently about "detainee abuse." Bill O'Reilly did a piece on it a few days ago when he went to GTMO. While I can't comment on Guantanimo or Iraq, I know for a fact that no such thing is happening in this AO. If anyone is being abused, its the guards who have to put up with the detainees crap (as well as our chain of command's) on a daily basis. We've been here about 5 months now and so far (knock on wood) we've had no UCMJ action for anyone, which is a change from the previous crew.
For anyone who's curious, no, we don't beat, mame, or torture anyone in the facility... and for those who read the article, its not "dog meat" or "donkey meat." They actually eat better than a lot of the soldiers do.
Oh yeah, and in a recent sensing sesion I happened to ask about Karzai's pic on our COC board. The Col tried to blow smoke up everyone's ass about how we are recognizing him as the leader of this country, and he is part of our COC, blah blah blah. Anyway, a day or so later we walk in to work and all of a sudden, HEY! They finally put our Commander in Chief's picture up! It only took a couple months and a joe that wasn't afraid to speak his mind...
