Gray G-10

I got a piece of what is allegedly "gray G-10"

None of us that have worked with this material know what it really is, another knifemaker gave me this piece that he got from a guy who got it from a scrapyard

It looks and works like regular G-10 garolite, except for the gray color


I'm hoping Mr. Harsey can help me identify this stuff and maybe find a source for it as I would like to put it on a few more knives in the future

Ken,
That sure looks like it could be G-10 in a type of "natural" or un-dyed color.
Have you seen any of the Sea Green G-10? That was called a natural color at one time.
I have some around here in both silver and blue but not grey.

Be careful grinding that stuff, it has Gurl germs in it that can kill ya.

Bill, the only "natural" stuff I've seen has had a yellowish look to it


This stuff could be a non-dyed material, I hadn't even considered that


When it was still in slab form, the outside looked very silver, almost like "silver twill" stuff but without the twill pattern


It sounded more dense than regular G-10 when I tapped it on the floor, but it was also twice as thick as my regular G-10 so that could have accounted for that.


Totally aware of the "gurl" germs and always wear my respirator and use the shop vac to catch the dust. Don't want any of them "gurl" germs:D
