When I was in Germany in the late 80's, the RS2 of my regiment gave me a copy of an Order of Battle Book that was developed by a Reserve SF Group. It remains one of the best manuals I ever received (along with a Ranger Manual my class section leader who was in 10th SFG(A) while I was at DLI.

My question is this: are there other OB books out there, or are they developed by individual teams for their specific missions?

If this crosses OPSEC in any way, then I will just keep my questions to myself...

Thanks,

It was developed by 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne), my former unit.

During Desert Shield/Desert Storm, similar books were developed on Iraqi forces, and subsequent operations have led to others being developed by DIA and various agencies (the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity put together some good ones). I have several for Somalia and Bosnia, plus DIA's North Korean handbook.

Most of these have a disadvantage over the 11th Group one. Later versions of the 11th Group one were done on water-resistant paper, since one of our unit's main missions involved sitting on the side of snow-covered mountains in northern Norway conducting special reconnaissance. Most of the later ones I've seen were mass-produced on regular paper, like a standard Ranger handbook, and tend to fall apart if you carry them around.
